Shared, VPS or Cloud....Help! Confused. - GoFuckYourself.com

I need help. I use hostgator shared plan to host my wp sites.
Recently I've been reading that they've been sold and the new owner is migrating sites to their datacenter that is causing all kinds of problems.
Before I see any problems I want to look for a new host.
I did a search and I'm even more confused than ever. There are so many choices.
What and who do I pick? Shared, VPS or cloud? What is a cloud anyway?
Don't need dedicated yet for the sites I have now.

this site http://www.xenlayer.com/index.html looks good. anyone use them? I see webair mentioned alot too.

Shared is basically you have resources pooled on a server, one person could take your site down if theirs got really popular...

VPS is essentially the same thing as Shared, but using beefy fucking servers that virtualize the system, so instead of you all eating out of the same pie, you only get a slice of the pie and once you eat your slice, you can't get more without buying another slice. Also it gives you the ability to manage your own server.

Cloud is like VPS except it's in the cloud. Many VPS providers say they're "cloud" but it's no real difference than VPS.
