In the 70s I had film budgets worth more than probably what today's average pornographer earns in a year.

No I'm not crying about the good old days and yes there's a certain nostalgia when I remember them. The women had class and the sex was incredible. But today is today and the current porn market situation is the current porn market situation.

In the past things like BBW girls, urination, street walkers, etc. were considered the "fringe." Now I'm not saying they don't have their place but the difference in the past is that the so-called "mainstream" porn was where the bulk of the industry money was earned. Whereas the fringe/niches was where pornographers that lacked money, talent or a connection with the bigger companies made their money. There was a fair number of players in the fringe. On the one side there were men like Goldstein that took things to the extreme... But on the other side there were men like Robert Reitman who tried to market nudity as a family affair.

Today the situation is reversed and the money is found in the fringe/niches. The irony is that the money is there not because these markets have grown or that the consumer's tastes have expanded. The money in today's niches is there because these market segments haven't been over saturated and/or killed unlike the mainstream part of the porn industry.

It also doesn't help that there really isn't a lot of good quality talent these days in the porn industry. And I'm not just referring to the girls.

There are some decent photographers left but the industry is highly political so many don't get a chance to showcase their talent. Also sadly in many cases they're not going to get paid adequately for their work so why bother putting in the effort?

Add to this that the distributors and the publications have in many cases executive personal in charge that shouldn't even be a gas station attendant. Instead they have been given command positions inside a major company. I hate to say it but the entire industry is toxic.

The formula to making good masturbate-able material is still the same as it was in the 1970s, including the hair on the vagina. Now anyone wanting to continue to make porn in a more traditional way as it was done in the 1970s has to really more or less go it alone. The trick is to take a good look at the dominant personality of the Internet.
