"Russian President Vladimir Putin called for an extraordinary session at the Russian Kremlin to discuss the situation in Egypt and take the necessary steps to put the Russian military facilities "at the Egyptian military's disposal". Putin further announced that Russia will arrange for joint military exercises with the Egyptian army.

Putin's decision came as a response to US President Barak Obama's announcement that the U.S. is calling off joint-military exercises with Egypt and threatening with further steps."

If a new Cold War is the intention then both Russia and the US have been making all the right moves.

I guess when you figure both countries are the world's biggest arms dealers then they both have to have a boogie man in order to make their sales.

Obama canceled the bi-annual joint military exercises because that's been done a few other times when Egypt's military had other things to worry about. It's been going on since 1981.

It's just standard business.

Pretty much, it's not like either of us would go to war. Russia is just puffing up its chest a lot lately because after the collapse of the USSR the US has been working hard to establish a containment before Russia could rebuild.

Russia trying to build back up is to be expected but the dog and pony show is both sad and funny to watch between both countries actions.

dos anyone here realise this is now like an old and tall oak tree with long winding branches? this is because of bush and allowing the united states of america to be attacked (certainly if not from the inside) and on that day a seed was planted of a mix of grief and vengeful hate with a president nuturing that seed with his old fashioned black and white rheteoric.

without 9/11, no extremist muslim versus christian holy war, probably no arab spring, we could be singing kum-bay-yah.
