It is funny, but not for why you think. Initially, no one accused MS of stealing the idea of a tablet from apple. Everyone knows MS tried to market a tablet for 10 years and literally no one cared. Then Jobs marketed a tablet, and literally changed the world.

So what's funny is that MS tried to sell something for 10 years and failed. Apple tried for a few months and created the post-PC era of computing.

And still no one cares about the MS tablet.

I'm pleased with my Mac. At this point it just boils down to not having to re-learn how to use each new iteration of Windows. OS X has stayed fairly consistent.

I'll just lose my mind if they overhaul the OS anytime soon. Though something tells me that may be on the horizon given the perceived need to update the GUI in iOS 7.

I have a Linux (OpenSUSE + KDE) desktop, a Windows 7 laptop, and a MacBook Pro Retina. I utilize all of them for their strengths but I use the MacBook most frequently. Go with what works!

Did MS really try to sell it for 10 years? Or more likely did once in 2002 and not so much later?
on top of that add to the fact that people were trained to listen every time when Jobbs was introducing and were trained to automatically assume it was "amazing".

They tried for 10 years. Different verticals. Medical was pushed hard for sometime. However, the error was that it was running an OS not designed for touch.

I'm 100% with you. I came from a pc too (1992 to 2011) and I will never use a PC again in my life. Mac works just fantastic. There is no noise at all, no problems, no wires, no drivers..You can use the computer for months without a reboot, the quality and design...every detail is amazing.. Apple worth every dollar.

My points are, it's all about personal preference. Some like the Apple experience, some don't. At end of the day, pay a lot of money and you get good shit, no matter the platform.

Never had Apple till i decided to buy an iphone and ipad last week.
I must know how people experience our sites on the most used devices.
The iphone works, i can make a prhone call with it and the ipad is a big iphone.

Glad i bought it, gave me new ideas.

if you bought the 4th gen ipod earlier this year (as late as may) you are SOL cause apple is not allowing IOS7 to be compatible with ipod 4. how unegalitarian.

& if you bought the first gen Ipad only 3 years ago, forget about getting the latest software update. you are excluded from using current software.

basically...after spending 600 dollars for hardware, apple will make your device useless for current apps within 3 years.

add this to the list of a dozen things that apple does which is directly opposite **********s politics.

The PC is freedom and freedom is messy but its how I choose to live.

We need more drivers because we want to be compatible with everything, even if we didn't manufacture it ourselves or think about it when we made the OS.

I switched to a Macbook pro back when the first unibodies came out. I tried really hard to like it and spent a lot of time getting used to it. Eventually it became clear that it was a toy. Apple is great for people with nothing important to do and no hurry to get it done.

I will admit though that the quality of the camera, speakers and microphone coupled with extended uptime made it easier to stay in touch with contacts, but clunky file browsing and the stupid single mouse button made most "real" tasks frustratingly difficult. I did get a lot of comments about how sexy it looked so I guess if you want your PC to look sexy then its great. If you want to get the fucking job done thats another story.

When I installed windows 7 it finally became useful but the battery life went to hell. When I was done playing with my shiny toy I gave it to my wife for facebooking and instagraming with and went back to PC. This time I decided to spend a similar amount on a Windows PC and wow what a beast I got.

I forgot to mention that the whole 2 years I was trying to be trendy using a mac I was losing money, when I switched back to PC I started making money again. Very little of it was the hardware itself most likely, but I still associate Apple with frustration and bullshit.

They even have little tables labeled "Kids only" for kids to play (on Macs of course) while parents do their shopping. Apple.com shows off computers and hardware and talks about their ease of use. What is elitist about that? The only people on their site are college kids with "genius" on their shirts prompting their tech support service to you. Why do you feel so excluded?

And maybe you have to give up some personal info when you register to use Apple products, but they use that info to provide you with better service, not shoot ads at you 24/7. If you're so worried about privacy, delete your Facebook account.


I'm not hopelessly in love, I just appreciate the value even if it is more expensive. All we are talking about is products and price while you are falling all over yourself calling Apple people fanboys and elitists. If we were like that why would "we" be inviting "you" to give Apple a second look?

The iPod 4's cpu chip is slow and underpowered and has limited ram which is probably why it won't run ios7. But so what? Apple is still supporting it and if you really want ios7 features you can do what alot of others are doing and jailbreak it. I found this in 2 seconds for you.
