It is funny, but not for why you think. Initially, no one accused MS of stealing the idea of a tablet from apple. Everyone knows MS tried to market a tablet for 10 years and literally no one cared. Then Jobs marketed a tablet, and literally changed the world.

So what's funny is that MS tried to sell something for 10 years and failed. Apple tried for a few months and created the post-PC era of computing.

And still no one cares about the MS tablet.

I'm pleased with my Mac. At this point it just boils down to not having to re-learn how to use each new iteration of Windows. OS X has stayed fairly consistent.

I'll just lose my mind if they overhaul the OS anytime soon. Though something tells me that may be on the horizon given the perceived need to update the GUI in iOS 7.

I have a Linux (OpenSUSE + KDE) desktop, a Windows 7 laptop, and a MacBook Pro Retina. I utilize all of them for their strengths but I use the MacBook most frequently. Go with what works!

Did MS really try to sell it for 10 years? Or more likely did once in 2002 and not so much later?
on top of that add to the fact that people were trained to listen every time when Jobbs was introducing and were trained to automatically assume it was "amazing".

They tried for 10 years. Different verticals. Medical was pushed hard for sometime. However, the error was that it was running an OS not designed for touch.

I'm 100% with you. I came from a pc too (1992 to 2011) and I will never use a PC again in my life. Mac works just fantastic. There is no noise at all, no problems, no wires, no drivers..You can use the computer for months without a reboot, the quality and design...every detail is amazing.. Apple worth every dollar.

- Endless anti-virus updates
- Endless pre-loaded programs chewing up ram
- Drivers, drivers, drivers!
- Super slow boot times (45-90 seconds even with fast 7200 RPM HD)
- Requires drivers for other devices
- Requires 3rd party everything, like monitors.
- Little to no free support, No single source support, Long waits for support.
- Pay about $250 for OS upgrades

And worst of all, you very likley to be so stubborn that you won't even consider the Apple brand, that:

- Has simple, elegant design with almost no wires
- Super silent fans (3 in iMac, 1 in new Mac Pro, none in Macbook)
- OS, based on super-stable Unix, written by Apple, for apple.
- No anti-virus software to worry about, and no viruses either)
- Properly written software + certified 3rd party software available through Apple
- Super-Fast Boot times (12-16 seconds)
- Plays well with other devices
- Includes stunning, very high quality monitors (except Mac Pro which requires separate purchase for monitor)
- Super-fast support, often free, with almost zero wait time.
- Pay about $20.00 for OS upgrades.

Many mac users like myself, came from PC backgrounds and used PC's before switching to Macs because we gave Apple a chance. Almost all of the Apple-bashers on this board flat-out refuse to even consider Apple and spit out all kinds of errors when talking about their products.

"Apple Fanboys" do not exist. Apple users use Apple products its because we like them for all kinds of reasons and their products work for us, and its because we SHOPPED AROUND like a good consumer should. We looked at the product then looked at the price and said "Great! Here's my money".

If you rant against Apple but have never owned one yourself and then spew out your "PC Forever" rants, then YOU are the fanboy.

- at least 4 noisy fans keeping it cool Mine are all quiet when set to quiet. Interestingly enough, macs overheat just as easily and mostly due to slowed down fan by default.
- Windows XP, Visa, 7 or 8 written by a separate manufacturer Good. Keeps development moving forward. None of this new and improved tech everyone else has done already.
- Endless anti-virus updates Macs have anti-virus too. My pc only updates its definitions every week or so in background without bothering me.
- Endless pre-loaded programs chewing up ram Blame the retailers, not the platform.
- Drivers, drivers, drivers! Uhm, your mac uses drivers, too. Just, only thing you can plug into that thing gets recognized and drivers install for most part. That's the bonus of very little hardware, I guess.
- Super slow boot times (45-90 seconds even with fast 7200 RPM HD) Pretty sure my Imac took just as long.
- Requires drivers for other devices
- Requires 3rd party everything, like monitors. What do you expect? Its a different platform.
- Little to no free support, No single source support, Long waits for support. Apple provides its own support, retailers usually provide support for PC for a fee. It's a trade-off for price.
- Pay about $250 for OS upgrades Trust me, you already paid a shit ton int he premium for the mac already, its not just paying for hardware.

And worst of all, you very likley to be so stubborn that you won't even consider the Apple brand, that:

- Has simple, elegant design with almost no wires Simpler, yes. I get it's appeal. But good luck expanding without tons of cables for USB and eSata.
- Super silent fans (3 in iMac, 1 in new Mac Pro, none in Macbook) 3 fan in imac must be new, mine had only one and it gunked up so bad the HDD fried. Pc have heat issues, macs have heat issues, too. When I sold these units, we serviced a bunch of macs for heat and failure, too.
- OS, based on super-stable Unix, written by Apple, for apple. Yay?
- No anti-virus software to worry about, and no viruses either) Oh really? then how come mac users can buy anti virus software?
- Properly written software + certified 3rd party software available through Apple Ive used shitty written software on mac.
- Super-Fast Boot times (12-16 seconds)
- Plays well with other devices Not really.. plays well with apple-approved devices and the random lucky ones.
- Includes stunning, very high quality monitors (except Mac Pro which requires separate purchase for monitor) Pay a bit more and get stunning high quality monitors, too.
- Super-fast support, often free, with almost zero wait time.
- Pay about $20.00 for OS upgrades.

My points are, it's all about personal preference. Some like the Apple experience, some don't. At end of the day, pay a lot of money and you get good shit, no matter the platform.

Never had Apple till i decided to buy an iphone and ipad last week.
I must know how people experience our sites on the most used devices.
The iphone works, i can make a prhone call with it and the ipad is a big iphone.

Glad i bought it, gave me new ideas.

leave it to apple.

if you bought the 4th gen ipod earlier this year (as late as may) you are SOL cause apple is not allowing IOS7 to be compatible with ipod 4. how unegalitarian.

& if you bought the first gen Ipad only 3 years ago, forget about getting the latest software update. you are excluded from using current software.

basically...after spending 600 dollars for hardware, apple will make your device useless for current apps within 3 years.

add this to the list of a dozen things that apple does which is directly opposite **********s politics.

The PC is freedom and freedom is messy but its how I choose to live.

We need more drivers because we want to be compatible with everything, even if we didn't manufacture it ourselves or think about it when we made the OS.

I switched to a Macbook pro back when the first unibodies came out. I tried really hard to like it and spent a lot of time getting used to it. Eventually it became clear that it was a toy. Apple is great for people with nothing important to do and no hurry to get it done.

I will admit though that the quality of the camera, speakers and microphone coupled with extended uptime made it easier to stay in touch with contacts, but clunky file browsing and the stupid single mouse button made most "real" tasks frustratingly difficult. I did get a lot of comments about how sexy it looked so I guess if you want your PC to look sexy then its great. If you want to get the fucking job done thats another story.

When I installed windows 7 it finally became useful but the battery life went to hell. When I was done playing with my shiny toy I gave it to my wife for facebooking and instagraming with and went back to PC. This time I decided to spend a similar amount on a Windows PC and wow what a beast I got.

I forgot to mention that the whole 2 years I was trying to be trendy using a mac I was losing money, when I switched back to PC I started making money again. Very little of it was the hardware itself most likely, but I still associate Apple with frustration and bullshit.

Lol!! No it doesn't. Have you ever walked into an Apple store? Everyone from old to young, suits to jeans, business people to artists are all treated with lots of respect. They even have little tables labeled "Kids only" for kids to play (on Macs of course) while parents do their shopping. Apple.com shows off computers and hardware and talks about their ease of use. What is elitist about that? The only people on their site are college kids with "genius" on their shirts prompting their tech support service to you. Why do you feel so excluded?

And maybe you have to give up some personal info when you register to use Apple products, but they use that info to provide you with better service, not shoot ads at you 24/7. If you're so worried about privacy, delete your Facebook account.

The iPod 4's cpu chip is slow and underpowered and has limited ram which is probably why it won't run ios7. But so what? Apple is still supporting it and if you really want ios7 features you can do what alot of others are doing and jailbreak it. I found this in 2 seconds for you.

your crapple is made in china...by chinamen...the chips are made by intel...by chinamen also...

look, bullshit OS aside, its like saying dell is better than lenovo

sorry to offend your little apple logo you payed 2x the price for but apple is nothing more than a hyped out PC brand because if the apple shit was any good they would not fucking switch to PC processors would they now?

they confuse you with fancy shit like "eye retina display" or "super cool fan with 1000.000.0000 patents" LOL dude my fan is super silent too and I got a better monitor than you do for less $$

cant wait for apple to switch to windows but it will be "Special windows" that has "artificial intelligence alien tech support" and is 10.000.0000x better than normal windows and costs like 1000$ to make the hipsters think they are paying for "quality"

Yes you do. People are building Hackintosh builds just for this purpose, for under $400.

oh ok. great company. in order to use a 7 month old ipod, i have to jailbreak it & void the warranty.

my greater point in my posts is how republican apple behaves, but you are the most flaming democrat on this board. koch bros would be proud how apple is run.

but you are so focused on the hardware being pretty, you are blind that you support a company that represents everything wrong with corporate america.

PS mark - yes apple is elitist...the pricing of its products keeps the poor out of its apple stores. or maybe you think obamacare provides a subsidy to the poor to buy applecare.
