Lol! Enough of the Apple fanboy rants already...

Let's see:

If you have a PC, you have
- A swarm of wires in the back
- at least 4 noisy fans keeping it cool
- Windows XP, Visa, 7 or 8 written by a separate manufacturer
- Endless anti-virus updates
- Endless pre-loaded programs chewing up ram
- Drivers, drivers, drivers!
- Super slow boot times (45-90 seconds even with fast 7200 RPM HD)
- Requires drivers for other devices
- Requires 3rd party everything, like monitors.
- Little to no free support, No single source support, Long waits for support.
- Pay about $250 for OS upgrades

And worst of all, you very likley to be so stubborn that you won't even consider the Apple brand, that:

- Has simple, elegant design with almost no wires
- Super silent fans (3 in iMac, 1 in new Mac Pro, none in Macbook)
- OS, based on super-stable Unix, written by Apple, for apple.
- No anti-virus software to worry about, and no viruses either)
- Properly written software + certified 3rd party software available through Apple
- Super-Fast Boot times (12-16 seconds)
- Plays well with other devices
- Includes stunning, very high quality monitors (except Mac Pro which requires separate purchase for monitor)
- Super-fast support, often free, with almost zero wait time.
- Pay about $20.00 for OS upgrades.

Many mac users like myself, came from PC backgrounds and used PC's before switching to Macs because we gave Apple a chance. Almost all of the Apple-bashers on this board flat-out refuse to even consider Apple and spit out all kinds of errors when talking about their products.

"Apple Fanboys" do not exist. Apple users use Apple products its because we like them for all kinds of reasons and their products work for us, and its because we SHOPPED AROUND like a good consumer should. We looked at the product then looked at the price and said "Great! Here's my money".

If you rant against Apple but have never owned one yourself and then spew out your "PC Forever" rants, then YOU are the fanboy.

There's delusion on both sides; the truth is somewhere in the middle.

For me, Apple has MORE than earned my business with support bordering on fanatical.

My iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macbooks, Mac Pros, Mac Mini (only one lol), and iMacs have been thousands more than the hardware was worth, but to ME, it's been worth every penny .. and it's my money, so why can't I decide how to spend it?

I don't give a shit if someone is using Windows on a PC, or even a Hackintosh on a PC. If they want to deal with it, then it's up to them. Doesn't affect my life one way or the other. For PC users, they seem to feel the need to talk about how much we overpay, etc, at every opportunity. Yawn.

I've owned several macs, still have a mac book pro. I really tried to get into them thinking the hype may be justified. For me, it wasn't. I prefer working on a PC, as it makes more sense to me.

That said, I do have an iPod, iPod Touch, iPad, and iPad Mini too. But for desktop... I really, really like my PC better.

You forgot to add that the average Mac cost 2 times as much for the same performance in a PC.

Also no wires? Ok with a Mac and nothing else it has only a few wires, however if you need extra hard drive space you can't add a 2nd hard drive to the iMac you have to connect it externally via wires.

iMac still has a Power cable, USB mouse & keyboard. You also need a cat 5 cable if you hook directly into your router or modem.

PC has Power cable,USB mouse & keyboard, also needs a cat 5 if hooking direct to modem. Requires extra wires for speakers..

So a PC can have a internal extra hard drive or two or more.. equals no need to hook up via USB. Meaning the only extra wires a PC really needs in speakers and video.

Sure a iMac can use blutooth keyboard & mouse,. but do they come with them? Yet a PC can also be equipped to run blutooth..

Also those silent fans in the iMac don't always keep it cool.. Mine use to get extremely hot, to the point I could feel it just siting in front of it.

tit for tat I'll take a PC any day over another mac.. At least I can replace the parts in a PC and upgrade it.

To top it all off, I don't have to hand over my credit card info to Microsoft just to download a patch.

obvious fanbot is obvious.

& pretty lopsided compare & contrast in op. all negatives for the pc and all positives for apple = apple fan boy.

op also left out the crucial difference- apple has fewer lights- ZOMG!

Pretty much the same thing goes when he speaks about republicans and democrats
He does not mention bad things that democrats do and does not mention good things that republicans do.

Not a sign of intellectual person

Maybe.. for sure Macs are more expensive but I think they are worth the price. If I had the choice between a full price Mac and a half-price PC, I would take the full-price mac because I now know that I'll save alot of time on everything involved.

On an iMac you have only a single power cable. The keyboard mouse and optional trackpad have no wires. It uses Wifi to connect to a wireless router. You can buy Apple routers with built-in hard disks (2T, 3T, 4T) which it also communicates with wirelessly.

Now to be fair, while the hard disk can be used for anything it is on the slow side so its best for storage or backups. For a fast hard disk you can use Firewire or Thunderbolt which of course requires a cable. But still.

You can buy an iMac with a huge hard drive, or you can buy a Mac Pro and install as many hard drives internally as you like. iMacs come with speakers and mic built-in, or you can use Wireless Mic and speakers via built-in bluetooth.

Let's count the wires :
PC:
1 x Microphone Wire
3 x Speaker wires (1 power, 1 Line-Out, plus 1 to second speaker)
2 x Monitor (1 power, 1 for signal)
2 x Second Monitor (1 power, 1 for signal) (optional)

Mac
0 x Mic (Built in, and works surprisingly well for things like skype)
0 x Speakers (Built in). Yes PC's can have built-in speakers too I know but..
0 x Monitor (it's built in)
0 x Second Monitor (Mac's can extend their desktops to another desktop's monitor wirelessly, or any monitor using Apple TV)

Yes! All Apple Imacs come with wireless keyboards and mice.

Wow that sounds bad. Maybe something was wrong? I found that the vent on the bottom of my imac would get dirty so I got into the habit of cleaning that area about once a month or so once I noticed that the top felt pretty warm at times. Now it's still warm but not hot.

Well, ok, but you still had to pay for the OS, and you had to register to activate it.. unless its registered you can't update it... and actually you still have to give your credit card to Microsoft if the version of Windows you purchased is the OEM version instead of the full retail version.... so I'd say at least on this point its a wash.

I've never once had to register to update my OS with windows or to activate it.
Meanwhile when I needed to update my iPad mini, I had to give them my credit card number to D/L anything via itunes.

I can walk into any store that sells windows buy it, install it and update it and do not have to give Microsoft a single bit of information about myself.

Meanwhile you can't even set up the OS on a iPad with out having a iTunes account and giving them all your personal info. Then if you intend to down load any apps or update you have to give Apple a credit card number even if what you are downloading is free.

Both my macs are steaming piles of shit. The 27" uber nice screen imac can't even handle more than two of it's four USB ports working at once, crashes constantly and doesn't like to shutdown without being forcequit because half the programs seem to want to hang it. It randomly decides when it wants to let the software record audio. It's literally the single worst computer I've ever purchased out of dozens. The other imac is merely slow and crappy for the money. The pair of i7 PC laptops I got (so I didn't have to carry them in different rooms) perform better. Man I even tried to play Civ5 with someone who only had a mac a couple of weeks ago (the PC and Mac versions go out of sync and the poor macolytes can't play with the vast majority of their friends for long periods) and even playing the game was HORRIBLE vs the laptop. Anyone who seriously thinks they're better is a fucking idiot or is just using them to surf the web with a relatively clean set up.
When they work, they're ok, nothing special. I'm happy enough doing Ruby stuff on it and TRYING to use Ableton when it fucking lets me but man it's a pain in the fucking ballbag. The thing to remember is that mactards have never stopped calling them superior even when they were demonstrably shit and slow (ie on motorola chips before nix) It's like the whole issue that forced them to keep up with PCs by moving to PC hardware went into the memory hole without skipping a beat.

It's a tool nothing more.. anyways enough of being trolled.

If you have a PC, you have
- A swarm of wires in the back (It not about pc vs mac but about the form you choose to buy. You can have a pc with just a screen also)

- at least 4 noisy fans keeping it cool (that depend of your case. Just get a nice case and pc also are quiet)

- Windows XP, Visa, 7 or 8 written by a separate manufacturer (well nothing to say here I true that windows work with a lot of different hardware)

- Endless anti-virus updates (windows 8 have a build-in antivirus that you never see)

- Endless pre-loaded programs chewing up ram ( It the user that decide what programs to preload not the OS)

- Drivers, drivers, drivers! ( well only video card driver need update the rest of the hardware is fine but most mac dont have a video card)

- Super slow boot times (45-90 seconds even with fast 7200 RPM HD) (just not true, or your talking about 400$ computer vs 2000$ mac? my pc boots pretty fast)

- Requires drivers for other devices (mac also they use usb like every pc.)

- Requires 3rd party everything, like monitors. (I dont understand how it a bad thing to have choice and mac also can use 3rd party hardware)

- Little to no free support, No single source support, Long waits for support. (well you get the support from the store where you buy your pc not from microsoft it self)

- Pay about $250 for OS upgrades ( yes because they only sell OS that you can use with any hardware, apple can give the os almost free since they already get money from the hardware you buy, for exemple they steal people with the price of their ram)

And worst of all, you very likley to be so stubborn that you won't even consider the Apple brand, that:

- Has simple, elegant design with almost no wires (true but you can do the same with a nice case or with a all-in-one pc design also.)

- Super silent fans (3 in iMac, 1 in new Mac Pro, none in Macbook) (true but good pc case also do that)

- OS, based on super-stable Unix, written by Apple, for apple. ( yea that is the main avantage, only have to write the os for a couple of different hardware)

- No anti-virus software to worry about, and no viruses either) (true but they start to have virus on mac now since it become more main steam and also you need something to protect you from trojan, keylogger and other spyware. Most big anti-virus come in a mac version)

- Properly written software + certified 3rd party software available through Apple (true it a good thing)

- Super-Fast Boot times (12-16 seconds) (a pc on the same price range can do the same)

- Plays well with other devices (usb work the same on mac an pc so not sure what you mean)

- Includes stunning, very high quality monitors (except Mac Pro which requires separate purchase for monitor) (well it depend on what you buy, going to a good pc you save a lot of money you can put on a good monitor also, apple dont make monitor they buy them from lg or samsung)

- Super-fast support, often free, with almost zero wait time. (Yea true, they lost my G4 a couple years ago in the post and I did get a really nice support from apple to get a other one. If you want support for bug, troubleshooting and other you need to buy applecare)

- Pay about $20.00 for OS upgrades. (they already make the money on the hardware so yes you can get upgrade for more cheap)

I like both but I dont like when people do 2000$ mac vs 400$ pc... it just not the same quality of course.

after decades of using a pc switching to a mac wouldn't be too smart. i'd have to rebuy all software and get used to another platform. do macs even make desktops? thats what i prefer to work on and when i can get one for $300 that works for years, why spend 1000 or more on a mac?

Lets just clear up the myths that the OP and others have come the believe to be the truth because they have drank a double dose of the purple cool-aid.

The reason there are these mysterious drivers out there is that Windows is versatile and robust - meaning that it is designed to be adaptable and work with a nearly infinite variety of hardware and combinations of that hardware and still operate - Now that is amazing!

Think about that for a moment. It has allowed countless companies to INVENT different devices and the all WORK with the operating system! WOW - what a concept. So different from the Apple business model. Guess it just blow you Apple fan-boys minds.

Sure...if one company makes both the hardware and operating system it damn well better work perfectly! No big surprise or anything unexpected there at all.

"Think Different" is a total sound bite line of bullshit! There is nothing different about Apple at all. You better like "one size fits all" or you are not gonna find your size dude.

Welcome to the cult.

Windows all the way but I must say my experience with mac's is limited.

Most things in the OP's list appear to largely be hardware inconveniences which can easily be resolved.

You can get all that from Dell for $2k or you can build even a better system yourself. Not to mention with a PC you will never have a $500 logic board go bad that seems to be the first thing the Apple Store tries to sell you when your iMac goes kaput.

Lets not also forget how much more it costs to get bigger HD's or more ram from the Apple store.. Even they know their customers are stupid trendy little fucks..

Apple used to be great. They might be innovative, but eventually the rest of the world catches up.

I have a win7 computer, never gives me any problems, starts up quickly, never any blue screens of death, if it does updates it does them in the background; I don't have issues with anitvirus and what not. I don't have a bunch of cords coming out of the back; I have my internet connection, speakers, monitor, and power cord, just like everyone else. My keyboard and mouse are wireless; I am sure I could get wireless speakers as well. My monitors look fine, kind of space aged.

In the end we both have computers, but Apple fans are going to pay a lot more.

hey mark prince...how can you be so progressive & fanboy a company that is so antiprogressive. lets see...

the founder never contributed to charity.
it moved jobs from california to slaves in china.
it played funny with steve's stock options values.
it was wayyyy behind on hardware recycling initiatives.
its wages at the retail level (plus the wealth gap between the top & bottom employees) are not progressive whatsoever.
it markets its product to elitists & for elitists. nobody in an apple ad is ever fat.
it sends the SWAT team to invade the home of a blogger who was outing a prototype.
it is more invasive to your privacy than NSA. you must register your PII to make use of apples universe. You have no power to privatize your activities on their hardware.

basically apple is everything that is wrong with corporatism. but you are hopelessly in love.

Macs are for people who want an easy to use system and don't have the knowledge and time to spend on keeping it running top notch and are happy to pay more for that. I don't like macs but if you have money to burn they work perfectly well but if you have good knowledge of computers and want to be able to customise and upgrade your computer then PC is the way to go.
