Hey if I buy a Windows 8 laptop can I downgrade it to 7?
I want to buy a laptop today or tomorrow. I dont want to buy it then find out that theres an issue that you cant downgrade it to Windows 7, like the hardware only works with Windows 8, etc.
Do you know if its possible or if they made it hard to do so? |

depends on the hardware since some doesn't have drivers for Win7...
it's better to just install Start Menu 8 or Classic Shell and keep the W8...

The new start menu is coming in Windows 8.2 in April though

You can if you have windows 8 pro. But you may experience some issues in the future for running older OS on newer hardware.

Check the hardware first, some dont support downgrade like HP. You might have to rethink first, downgrading doesnt mean it will make your life easy. Goodluck!

I just commented in another thread about this - there are some nice systems that are off-lease on TigerDirect that have warranties.
Nonetheless, I just learned that if you buy a system from Best Buy, they'll do a free downgrade as long as you provide the Windows 7 copy. |

Once you boot into the Desktop it is just like Windows 7. You act like you are back in Dos and have to type all the commands. |
