Vegas people. Inside please.

I'm getting married in Vegas next year. We are going to be staying at the Cosmopolitan for 7 days, and actually having the wedding there, before moving on to the Aria for another 7 days.

What i'd like to know is of there is much difference visiting Vegas between late March, till about mid May ?? I'm thinking weather wise, how busy, prices, things like that.

I've only ever been to Vegas on the months of October, December and January.

Any other info you can think of that might help me also welcome.

Excellent hotel choices. Get a host at Cosmo as soon as you arrive, if you don't already have one. They have great hookups all around town, and will give you nice gifts up to your suite.

My wife and I got married in Vegas in mid May. 107 degrees day of. We live here so we're used to it and it wasn't a problem. Guests from Oregon on the other hand.

If you're getting married outdoors the wind picks up in March through early April. Might not be a big deal down on the strip surrounded by the towers. March is also a busy time in Vegas due to March Madness.

Best weather in my opinion is April and late September/early October. So for your timeline I would shoot for April 15th - May 5th. Usually in the 80's, creeping into the low 90's by early May.

Great choice for a hotel. Cosmo is one of my favs.

Sounds good.

Yeah we wanted to go to the Cosmopolitan anyway, but the wedding package they had on offer there was perfect for us. The wedding ceremony will take place on the balcony of the suite with the Bellagio fountains in the background. So it should be different but nice all the same...

27th April till 11th May we had pencilled in. Looks like that would be pretty much perfect then.

Many thanks for that info sir!

Congratulations!

The Cosmo is a pretty hotel. It's way over-priced, but if you have the money ($16 for a well brand screwdriver at the chandelier bar on a weekend night) to blow it is quite an experience.

Best of wishes to you and your bride.

Three things I'd recommend:

a) Helicopter to the grand canyon
b) The neon graveyard
c) Penn and Teller

Congratulations.

March "should" have nicer weather...BUT, be mindful that your stay may overlap a big convention, or more specifically, the NASCAR race...when hotel prices would be jacked up a bit.
{the dates for next seasons races have yet to be announced...but are "usually" in the second weekend of March.}

We did that on our last trip so probably wouldn't bother again this time. We are however thinking of just doing the helicopter trip over the strip at night.

I know it's not the same thing but it's something else we fancied doing from before and never got round to.

And cheers!

That's hard to say Scott. If it was me getting married, I might just go all out and do exactly what you are doing and to hell with the cost.

Everybody needs to do it up decadent at least once.

Now that I live here? I'd hunt down some deals.

But since you are getting married...I think that you made some good choices as far as having a big time and showing out. As I said, you are gonna pay way too much because the strip is that way now (not like the old days of Vegas).

If it were me, and I were concerned about the financial aftermath...I'd probably do what you are planning for the wedding.

After 3 or 4 days you're gonna get bored at the Cosmo. You're gonna have seen what you want to see at that hotel and enjoyed the decadence.

Moving over to the Aria isn't gonna be much of a change.

Both casinos are pretty corporate and cold feeling once you get past all the cool architecture and stuff.

Maybe instead of moving to the Aria for the second week...you should take the party downtown?
Lots more to do and way cheaper.

You can get a nice suite at the Golden Nugget for a lot less money. And then you'll have all of Fremont St. to party on:
http://www.goldennugget.com/lasvegas/

You could get one of these suites:
http://www.goldennugget.com/lasvegas...owersuites.asp

And I really like these too:
http://www.goldennugget.com/lasvegas...rlorsuites.asp

That would put you right on Fremont. Bands playing up and down the street. The street is blocked off from all traffic so people just party up and down the street from casino to casino drinking and having fun.

It's the original "strip" in Las Vegas. Hell, there's even a titty bar there!

And you won't have to take a cab. You just stroll up and down the street and have fun.

In my opinion that would be the perfect 2nd week of your stay.
First week at Cosmo living it up decadent on the "modern" strip.

Second week...switching gears. Having more casual fun at The Golden Nugget and enjoying all the cool nightlife on Fremont.

You had me at Downtown until Fremont St. Fremont St East yes. Fremont St itself? Good lord that's depressing. I can't imagine spending a week at the Golden Nugget. Especially the week after my wedding.

I would go with the Cosmo. Take one of the nights and cab it to Fremont East and party on the cheap at CommonWealth, Park on Fremont, The Griffin, Insert Coins etc.

Interesting Robbie. Our concern after the first week was that we would downgrade too much, after all it will be technically our honeymoon the rest of the time we are there. We considered places like The Palazzo or The Wynn. But decided on the Aria so that we didn't notice too much of a drop hopefully. I do get what you are saying though. And yeah Vegas isn't as "cheap" as it used to be. I think we would be checking out Freemont Street for a day/night, rather than stay there for a week...

The reason I suggested staying there would be so you wouldn't have to travel around while partying.

That's the way I like to do it. Fremont is unique because you can party your ass off up and down the street and just stumble back to your room without having to catch a cab.
Whereas if you just go to Fremont, then you have to think about getting back to your original hotel on the modern strip.

I kind of like staying at a lot of different places. I've done just about every "historic" casino/hotel left in Vegas. Even stayed at the first one in Vegas (The Golden Gate on Fremont) and the one that's the longest continuously operating one in Vegas (El Cortez)

I love that whole "old Vegas" feel as opposed to the corporate casino/hotels of today.
Anyway, that was just my suggestion as a change of pace between the two weeks. Both the Cosmo and Aria are beautiful.

Probably the most decadent room I ever stayed in was at The Bellagio a few years back. It was a suite that had the fountain view. It had a gorgeous living room and dining room, a "his and her" set of bathrooms each with their own steam rooms, and even a personal butler. It was $1,700 a night.

Fun to do something like that once.
These days I'd rather get a $28 room at The Plaza on Fremont and just have fun. lol

Whatever you do, congrats and have a great time!

Scotland is actually great for weddings, but we've been to loads of weddings here, especially the past couple of years. So we both wanted to experience something a bit different and rather than a beach type wedding, we wanted to do the Vegas thing since it's a special place for us anyway. As Robbie said, going all out for it at least once in Vegas is worth doing. So we wanna do it right and not worry about how much it all costs...

I did that last year, in hindsight, I wish we were more selfish and had a destination wedding if I am honest. We spent a lot of money on our wedding and mostly it went towards paying for everyone to eat and drink on us for 12 hours. It was an amazing day, don't misunderstand me but if I was doing it all over again, I think I'd take 30-40 of my closest friends and family away to Bali or Thailand and do the wedding there.

Man don't go downtown ever unless you are looking for meth

I'd do Cosmo and them maybe Mandalay to switch it up. They have great pool there.

I've never found any drugs downtown. Maybe that's the way it used to be 10 years ago. But downtown Vegas is now the hub of the city. You're way behind the times.
