This is one of the many things I don't worry about anymore since I became my own sponsor.

But ideally you should be able to work it out with your sponsor. I've done media buys in mainstream where the traffic seller just told me straight up: We are not going to let you know where the leads are coming from, that's confidential. If it's not working out for you then we'll adjust the price or the scrub but that's our traffic source and it's none of your business.

It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I can see how it would be for some, especially depending how badly they've been burned in the past.

Hey hey, I know and it's a decision we made along the line. You could also say on the other hand that we never charged webmasters like all the other sites did ;)
