I believe they captured them and then sank the boats.... hence the video skipping from warning shots on an occupied boat, to sinking the boats. That's why it wasn't a big news story.

What seems to be common is that these larger boats are used a base since they have to be 100s of miles offshore and they need the small skiffs for speed, but which of course, have a very limited range and can't handle weather. I found a couple stories of military giving them food and water and fuel... loading them in the skiff with a compass and then sinking the larger boat. That makes more sense... taking prisoners is messy. Killing them outright is more messy. Leaving them with all their weapons and equipment wouldn't make sense either. Yup, grab their gear, sink all boats except one and drop them off near land in one of the skiffs.
