open rates on emails

What kind of open rates are you guys seeing on mailers to past members? Tough to find that info on the web for adult sites.

?? You want to sell your past members or you want to email them? If you want to email them just do it yourself and set it up with a competent host. If the prior... well, time for a new job.

You need DKIM and SPF records -- not just a decent host. You also need to comply with CAN-SPAM standards (easy unsubscribe, address, etc). You can't just mail out to people and expect to hit their mailboxes. You also need throttling, bounce filtering, etc.

The problem I've found with adult sites is it's notoriously hard to hit mailboxes. Any adult mention and you're mailing is spammed. Now with GMail they also have new "Social" and "Promotions" tabs that automatically filter people's inbox -- so if you're trying to sell something that's where it'll go.

For reasonable size lists (over 10,000) I wouldn't expect better than a 10% open-rate. For smaller, customer based lists maybe more. If you send out 200 emails your open rate will probably be higher as if you're mailing over 1k emails per hour, providers might start rejecting your emails, if not already listing them as spam/junk.

Can you hit me up on icq or skype bernie4366? I'd like to run what we're doing by you, I have a feeling we could be doing it better.

If you already have a history of emails with the customer then a lot of the mail will not be flagged as spam. It is all about the titles.

Anyone who knows about DKIM and SPF records, throttling and bounce filtering please feel free to hit me up, I'll gladly pay a consultation fee. Had great first day results with this campaign and I want to keep it going.

On our last couple of ex-member 'come back to us' mails, we had an open rate of about 15% and a conversion rate of 4%. Not too bad, and very welcome bit of bonus income.

As has been mentioned in this thread, subject lines matter. Add in a personal message rather than making it appear like a broadcast, and remove any words which will help trip spam filters.

It's about a whole lot more than title's to mail/inbox effectively.

This right here is a good start.

Keep in mind, that the question you're asking is too broad. For example, if I was sending to a raw random mailing list, the opener/clickers is going to tend to be much smaller than a segmented o/c master file that you would develop over time.

You can use a mailing list any number of ways to monetize it, and based on that, mailing techniques, quality of ip space, subject headers, content, offers, links, domains, etc, etc, etc. will all impact delivery.

when did barefootsies become a mailing expert? lol.

ive seen upwards of 35% open rates for highly targeted mailings to members that 'like' getting mail. its a very wide number, if you only mail people that have opened or clicked your mails in the past, the rate will be much higher. mailing old members can be iffy, depending on how far back in time you go, as many people change email addresses, are no longer online, etc. the key to good mailing is segmenting things correctly. fewer mails sent to a smaller more targetted audience is IMHO, better then throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks, as that just slowly burns down the whole house.

I never claimed to be an 'expert' on anything, I consider myself a jack of all trades. However I know email just fine (sig links).

That being said, apparently you ASSume you know what all I do in the adult and online space mistakenly.

Not the first, won't be the last.

You don't really need consultancy to set up DKIM and SPF records.

SPF https://support.google.com/a/answer/..._topic=2759192

DKIM https://support.google.com/a/answer/174124

As to your open rates, it depends. I've been doing email consultancy for the last 7 or 8 years and have seen everything from less than 1% to 100%. (The 100% was a double opt in Christmas advent calendar I did when I was working at Playboy UK, each day in December we sent people that had requested it, an advent girl. On Christmas day, it got 100% opens, but clearly that is far from normal).

Check out my email tips in the Education Series on this very board, there are three in the series. 101, 102, and, yes, you guessed it, 103. Hopefully there's some helpful info there.

If you're doing consulting work hit me up and give me your rates.
