I added some new haters

First thing this morning I get a call from the manager of the light and water department.

We had a big snowstorm yesterday and while one of our maintenance men was plowing snow in our Bobcat he hit some electrical device. It popped some very damn costly fuses and knocked out all the power to everyone on the other side of our frontage street.

A mobile home park and the rest of the industrial park. They had no electricity for over 7 hours. So we have a bunch of angry neighbors and I am getting the bill to repair it all.

A downside of being in business. I thought my GFY haters would enjoy knowing that they have some new allies..

makes you wonder how many kids were left without power for seven hours, during a 'very big snowstorm'

I'm starting to question if you really are who you claim to be. No offense but if I had a huge non-adult company to look after and untold millions of dollars, I wouldn't be hanging out here on a regular basis... or saying the word "haters".

Those pesky Bobcats. I once ran over part of a large irrigation system line with one & ruptured it, didn't realize what had happened until returning hours later - water water everywhere, including places where water wasn't supposed to be. Definitely an "Oh Fuuuuuck......" moment.

So what would you do rather?

I stop by here a few times a week when I am at the office. What else would you call people that hate you? Is there a better word..

Send the people across the street something... even if just a hand-written note of apology for knocking out the power. One day there will be a zoning question or some other unforeseen reason that one of them needs to say yes to something and 'that nice company across the street' is much more likely to get approval from them than 'that asshole who made us all freeze half to death' a few years ago.

I'd just let them know it was the fault of a rogue bobcatter and he's since been fired.

I did leave that up to his supervisor and he made a good call. It was an accident, So he changed our policy about snow removal. Don't worry about it until the storm is done.
My ride home was white knuckle the whole way. Visibility was down to almost nothing and there was 5" of fresh snow on all the roads.

In other news, you picked up a new gfy hater due to using the term *haters*. Prolly could have snagged a few more if you spelt it haterZ.

Smart.

Also gives your bobcat operator time to lose a few pounds before being seated in the BBQ community dunk tank ;)

That would be poetic justice. The guy that was driving the bobcat is the same guy that takes care of keeping the fountain nice.

I'm not a hater and I can't remember if you exactly fit this or not but sometimes conservatives fall into this. It's one thing to care about the country and do what you can to make the nation better. It's another to already be wealthy and to then spend hours every day complaining about people getting food stamps or children getting free sack lunches. If you have a nice life, enjoy it! Be thankful. There is no need to be so negative.

Here's a piece of advice then. If you end up making a lot of money in your career. don't take yourself to seriously and walk around with a stick up your ass. I might be a jerk from time to time here but that's true to form. I am a jerk in person too from time to time.

Stop whining you installed a 300k fucking water fountain for Christ sake. You will be fine.
if not then im sure u will regret that purchase.

Id opt for some nice landscaping any day over a 300k fountain. Shit ...or even some human Mexican furniture lol.
How much it cost per year to keep that birdbath working?

No question I'll be fine. It was never an issue.
The front yard is 16 acres and as it is the contract and down payment has already been issued for a large landscaping addition. Just waiting for the spring. We are first on the list.

How much does it cost to run and maintain our fountain? I don't know. But whatever it is, it's worth every penny. It's a great place to have meetings and lunch.

It's a done deal. I am going to have HR put it in motion tomorrow at the morning staff meeting. It's the very least we can do. It was tough on the neighbors and tougher on the city electrical staff that had to repair it during what was nearly a blizzard.

I was gonna suggest the community BBQ even before I saw someone else suggest it.

Good move on your part. Might be some good benefits you never imagine. Toss in a few door prizes or something. If my hydro went out because of your contractor guy and you tossed a BBQ for the neighbourhood...I'd sure as hell respect that.

What's the name of that trailer park that all lost they power from this and shit? Funny, cause one of my redneck homegirls from POF was complaining about something very similar happening to her trailer park yesterday. Would be funny as shit if it was the same trailer park you talkin bout.

The man is white, from Watertown Wi. I like how you ASSUME that because he does the outside work, lawn mowing, snow plowing, fountain maintenance that he is Mexican.

Besides, we e-verify our employees.

Send someone to offer your neighbors crispy cream donuts and hot apple cider. That will smooth things over. Oh, and free pantyhose for the ladies.

Did runoff turn the lake to a cesspool?

That seriously never happens in Wisconsin, The DNR in this state are brutal with anyone that messes with the lakes, rivers or wetlands. We can't even add the annual truckload of sand on our lakefront anymore.

This is the classy thing to do.
what really grinds his gears is poor 3rd world people keeping their natural resources like say free drinking water from multi billion dollar corporations like nestle that have their HQ on an alpine glacial lake in switzerland ...he even dedicates an "i am an asshole look at my 200K fountain" thread to accentuate his asshole-ness because I called him out on it

the community work he does is probably a tax write off and serves as his anti asshole cream that he applies to improve his public appearance...a real humanitarian would never find fault with poor people keeping THEIR OWN drinking water and not having to buy it back from nestle bottled...we are not even talking about eastern euro 3rd world poor we are talking about african people who live off of less than 1$/day...the poorest of the poor, who are happy to have food on the table let alone bottled water...the water costs over 1$ bottled it exceeds their daily income...its like charging a regular american 500$ for a bottle of water that he had for free in his back yard...
