Godaddy problems VS money saved: worth it?

So far I've only had two issues with Godaddy over the 10 years I've been with them. Is the money you save with them worth it when you have to spend hours on the phone over a small issue? Has anyone else had this problem with Godaddy?

Last year some domains were auto-renewed that I'm positive were not set to auto renew.

After hours on the phone with them, they credited my account and assured me nothing was on auto-renew.

Last Monday different domains auto-renewed AGAIN!

On the phone a total of about 3 hours over 3 days regarding this issue, and credit not received back to my account.

Is there any place as cheap or relatively close to Godaddy's prices? Is staying with Godaddy even worth it?

I switched all my domains to Namecheap - they cost about the same minus the problems

I use NameSilo and they're great

- Really easy to use user interface (crap free)!
- Free lifetime whois protection (great for xbiz)
- Secure (you can enable Google 2-factor verification for login)
- Probably best pricing on the market

I use NameCheap much for the same reasons I switched to Mac. The less time I spend dealing with problems and more time I spend actually working on my sites, the more money I make.

I have never, not ONCE, had an "issue" or "problem" with GoDaddy in nearly ten years...
So, I can't answer your poll, because there's no option for "I've never had a problem".

We have been using them longer than that and I can't think of any time we had to call them; they usually call us.

I never had issues, except one time with the same auto renewal thing... But I am only 99.9% sure that I did not have them on autorenew.

Thanks for your input everyone.

Since the auto renew is the only issue I've had with them I'm going to take off all payment methods except a Citibank virtual account number that will not be able to auto renew.

Thanks again everyone I appreciate your input!

Never had an issue as well in 10-11 years. $8.47 renewals in their discount club keeps me there. Savings gives me tolerance to overlook their upsell strategy.

Ive never had any problems with godaddy. I had some domains left on autorenew and thus they autorenewed when the time came but i didnt want them anymore. I just jumped on chat and got them reversed and money refunded no questions asked.
