Anyone ever use a Life Coach before?

I was reading about this not to long ago and wanted to see if there was any real value in working with a "life coach." I have a lot going on in my life and business, so having someone to help steer in the right direction would be an added plus.

Any thoughts?

When you are the boss it can help to have someone keep you accountable and on track for long term goals.

I find sometimes I get so focused on short term stuff in the day to day its a eye opened to have some one again say hey wait. Look big picture..

I have a friend of mine who is lost and confused. I had an interesting talk with her yesterday. She's nearly fifty, a single mom, hasn't had a relationship with a decent man in over a decade, doesn't want to work full time because she doesn't get along well with others, has never owned a house, and is behind on her car payments.

I don't understand people like this. She doesn't need a fucking life coach; She needs a swift kick in the ass.

If you are so busy that you need a life coach to help you make some basic decisions... You need to take a step back and perhaps even take a vacation.

I went to Hawaii a few years ago and I just stuck my feet in the sand for a few days and thought about how I could "work better" and more efficiently. Truth be told, it was eye opening, changed how I do business, and some of the ideas I came up with I still employ on a daily basis.

#1 she isn't you
#2 what do you think a life coach is/would do? It isn't about being a time manager because people are 'so busy'

like Glen said though, people should READ more. Read, read, read some more - you can never stop learning, about another subject, or about yourself and 'life' as it pertains to the OP subject matter.

Jel, good advice about reading books, but many answers are not found in any book...

sometimes unbiased input from someone wiser/more experienced than you is what you may need...

^ yup agreed 100%, books are an excellent starting point, and 'extra' input as well. A good circle of real, real trusted close friends where you can be 100% honest with ZERO holding back is very important too, and those are my 'life coaches' so to speak. I learn from their experiences, ask, discuss, and so on, and vice versa

(also known as a 'master mind' )

"Life Coaches" are scammers, nothing more. We knew this idiot a few years ago who claimed she was a "life coach". (She also claimed she was a Chat Host trainer and adult industry expert, an Ex Microsoft guru, and today she claims she is a "Gifted Psychic" and "Anti Terrorism Consultant". Life coaches say exactly what the poor sucker wants to hear and tries to charge a fortune for the privilege.

If you know someone who is depressed, a life coach is the last thing they need. Try being the best friend you can be to that person and if you yourself can't help, contact a shrink.

If you turn over your responsibility to someone who couldn't make it by doing, you deserve what you get.

Ok seriously, what you really need is some peers/colleagues you can bounce ideas off of.

I have used Jack Canfield twice, and it was well worth the money. Started out with his book, and that accelerated things SO much. I would not be where I am now, if I hadent ordered that book.

you know them all I take it? seriously, that's like having a shitty driving instructor, shitty teacher, shitty 'fill in the blank' and blindly tarring everyone with that same brush. By that token, anyone in the adult industry is a scammer.

Problem is, most everyone has this seemingly built-in idea that they should know it all, when it comes to 'life' - like it's some kind of sign of weakness to even admit you can be helped tremendously by anyone else - as if it's a slight on your capabilities as a person, and you are somehow a 'failure'.

Best advice I ever took on board years ago was: always be teachable.

Fun fact: you (as in anyone, not you Mark) do NOT know everything, are NOT perfect as a person, and DO have room for massive improvement in almost all areas of your life. Now, whether that is via life-coach, books, your circle of friends, business mater minds, a shrink, or whatever, doesn't matter.

Hi Jel,

... ok, you have a point... but it seems like anyone can call themselves a life coach and get away with taking big bucks from people who are down on their luck. kinda shitty.

Just like an SEO guy, who if he actually had his shit together he'd be running a giant network of his own sites with no time to optimize yours for $200, a life coach if he really had his shit together, knew how to run a personal life and a business he'd be doing something a lot more profitable...

A friend of mine has a sister that is what I would call a life coach. She calls herself a personal consultant. She basically just comes into your life and helps you get yourself organized.

She also helps you prioritize things based on what is important to you and what you want to achieve. In the end it seems like a lot of what she does is common sense and basic organization and time management, but for those lost in the clutter of their lives it can be helpful.

Of course it will only work if you you are willing to follow through and make changes.

So, as others have said, you might try reading a few books on getting your life organized or you might meet with a few people and see what they can offer. It you really think you need someone to help you get out of the clutter and chaos you have created in your life it can't hurt.

Well,i am some sort of life coach, all tho i am oriented into improving business processes while personal if client wants to improve those as well.
But this isn't easy job,it is very common how people think how they will pay someone to improve their life and things will go just better just like that, for example if i say someone how he should start working from 8 am instead 1pm and he says how he wont do it,then you cant really expect better results no?Also, for some lifecoach is not just a source of new informations,it is also a method to deal with discipline problem(for people who having issues with self-discipline)

Completely bad comparation ,as life organization is far greater topic then seo, plus having your life organized doesn't make you millionaire,it just make you to live a normal life without having debts and having major issues.

yeah it is, but you can say that about a PA, a financial advisor, a marketing advisor, a therapist, whatever - again, doesn't mean ALL of them are useless, because some of them are scammers after a quick buck, or just plain shit at their job
