Americans : You need gun control

Too many Gun nuts are getting too many guns. You guys need to push back against the NRA's incredibly bad "advice" and demand tough gun laws, background checks, limits on the types of guns (no one needs assault rifles for fucksakes), and when and where you can carry guns.

Cases in point:

45 People Shot in Chicago this past easter:
http://www.blacknews.com/news/chicag...l#.U1gSk15Mm3B

OK to carry guns into bars, some government buildings and places of worship in GA:
http://www.northwestgeorgianews.com/...a4bcf6878.html

and

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014...ng-gun-rights/

And then there was these guys playing Militia last week during the Bundy Cattle thing:

Is all of this really necessary? Really? Don't you think things are just a little bit out of control? Wouldn't the world be a better place if you could swap your guns for flowers? (My brother hates it when I say that lol!)

Don't tell them they can't have guns - Tell them they have to have guns - The gun nuts will hand them in so fast - "Don't you tell me I have to have a gun..."...

the real killer is fast food and unhealthy diets and people eating like shit. Total deaths from diabetes, cancer, and heart disease are in the millions and most of this is due to unhealthy diets, processed foods and lack of exercise.

US deaths from guns 19,392. drop in the bucket and some of these people deserved to get shot.

We spend millions so people dont text and drive, but we could careless about what people eat and that is the real killer in the US.

When deaths from guns hit the top 5 we'll start to worry about having too many! As it sit's, its not even in the top 20

Your next post should be a picture of a bunch of fat people sitting around a McD's table snarfing on big mac's and fries, sucking down a gallon of coke and topping it off with a ice cream flurry and asking the question, when is enough ???

No, ********** is wrong.

You and he both mention the NRA like it's the be-all end-all reason for guns in the USA and that fundamentally misses the core facts, which are

1. America was built on guns, from the beginning. we design em, we built a shit load of em and we shoot em. We always have, way before the NRA even.

2. We like #1 so much we had the right to do that written into our constitution as a BUILDING BLOCK OF THIS COUNTRY over 240 years ago, again, way before the NRA.

Personally I am controlling as many guns as I can afford to right now, when I have some extra cash for new toys I will control a few more.

You are wrong: we need crazy mofo control and better self discipline about solving disputes.

Take away our guns and we will just find other ways that are fatally violent to settle disputes or wreak havoc ...

Chicago has the toughest gun control laws in the country, guess those laws are not doing much.

Georgia is just fine.

The Bundy cattle stand off is EXACTLY why we have the 2nd Amendment.

And really, when you live here your opinion might mean something, right now, worry about your own fucking country

Got to love how outsiders think they know better; I seem to recall something about Nazis and The Netherlands not all that long ago. Maybe you guys should rethink your position.

This is a list of Old West gunfighters, referring to outlaws or lawmen, of the American frontier who gained fame or notoriety during the American Wild West or Old West.

A gunfighter may or may not be an outlaw or a lawman.

An outlaw had usually been convicted of a crime such as Black Bart, but may have only gained a reputation as operating outside the law such as Ike Clanton.

Some of those listed may have also served in law enforcement like Marshal Burt Alvord who subsequently became an outlaw, and some outlaws like Johnny Ringo were deputized at one time or another.

Some of the gunfighters listed included professional scouts, businessmen, or even doctors.

Moreover, the focus on Chicago is misrepresented.

According to the FBI, Chicago?s homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants is 7.1. So, for every 100,000 people living in the Chicago area, roughly 7 were murdered.

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr...abledatadecpdf

According to Wiki, the world murder rate is 6.9 per 100,000

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._homicide_rate

There are PLENTY of countries with PLENTY of guns that don't kill each other the way we do in the US. I think we have 10k murders a year? France, Norway etc...just a handful (literally). You will never keep a criminal who wants to get a gun and do harm from doing so. I think the REAL question is not how to cut back on guns, but what is it about the US has has everyone killing at the drop of a hat

I HATE guns. I don't like them, I don't have one or feel at all comfortable around them. But thats MY choice, just as I feel owning a gun (or 20) is anyone else's choice.

it's our culture, that's why I posted that list of legendary gunslingers. good guys or bad, if they slung a gun, we put em on a pedestal and give em a place in history.

Come on.. guns were not necessary. Bundy is a welfare cowboy who racked up a milliion dollars worth of fees, fines and penalties, all of which all other ranchers have to pay too. If he doesn't like the law, all he has to do is fight it in court.

You're telling me that guns and snipers with rifles pointing at the heads of the sheriff was really necessary? Bundy's case has nothing at all to do with the second amendment.

You don't get to individually own nukes, or RPGs, or tanks -- which are "arms" -- which the 2nd is purported to entitle you to bear. C'mon now.

no, the supreme court cleared that up years ago, the 2nd amendment does not allow individuals nukes, etc.

Tanks, rockets, and nuclear weapons are not protected by the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment protects only arms which one may "keep" and "bear." "The term (p.13)'arms' as used by the drafters of the constitutions probably was intended to include those weapons used by settlers for both personal and military defense... The term 'arms' would not have included cannons nor other heavy ordnance not kept by militiamen or private citizens." State v. Kessler, 289 Or. 359, 368, 614 P.2d 94, 98 (1980).

the Federalist papers are key documents in the history of the USA

The Federalist Papers are a series of 85 articles and essays written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay promoting the ratification of the United States Constitution.

and James Madison a key person in the creation of the USA.

He is hailed as the "Father of the Constitution" for being instrumental in the drafting of the United States Constitution and as the key champion and author of the United States Bill of Rights.

In The Federalist No. 46, James Madison alluded to "the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation." Madison, Hamilton, and Jay, The Federalist Papers 299 (Arlington House ed. n.d.) Madison continued, "Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." Noah Webster, the influential federalist whose name still appears on dictionaries, stated: "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe.
