How do you transfer away from GoDaddy ???
Godaddy seems to lock you in with that damn privacy bullshit. First they give it for free, then they make it so you can't just not renew it, then they get rid of their coupon codes for everything
![]() I'm trying to transfer away one of my domains that's about to expire and when I click to send the authorization code, it keeps wanting to send it to an @domainsbyproxy.com email even though I've changed the admin on the domain to another account, but it just won't change it and it's getting frustrating. Have any of you experienced this before and how the hell do you get away ?!?! ha ha ha. |

You need to disable whois privacy first.
Then follow these steps: http://support.godaddy.com/help/arti...r-domain-names Then: http://support.godaddy.com/help/arti...ur-domain-name (*) under: Getting an Authorization Code via Email (Active Domain Name) |

Thanks Myleene, I appreciate the reply, however, it's a little more tricky than that with the "free privacy" they give out, then after the first year, they sock you $9.99 and won't just let you click to cancel it, plus with that, it seems to kinda lock you in

Like Myleen said,
Disable whois privacy at the domainsbyproxy.com site first. Then unlock your domain at godaddy. Then initiate the transfer at your new registrar by buying one. Follow all directions in emails you get. Get your epp code from godaddy (In domain manager click the domain you are transferring away - scroll down to the bottom and click 'send me the code') ... |

All the stuff posted up there works, BUT if you're close to renewal date, you won't be able to transfer the domains.

I transfer my domains from Godaddy all the time...use their cheap $1-3 coupons and then when it comes to renewal I just move them to Namecheap.
