Republicans are in the process of filing a lawsuit against Obama claiming he is a tyrant for using his Executive Orders privilege. Interesting to watch this party die a slow death.

Here amongst the intelligent, we understand it's not how many, it's how unlawful.
The intelligent know that after passing obamacare as law, you can't change it with a wave of the hand.
The intelligent know that our immigration laws can not go uninforced by a wave of the hand.
What is it that you, our least intelligent know?

What 12clicks said to you is true.

Posting pics of a graph that shows other Presidents made executive orders declaring it to be "National Ball Of Wax" day are not the same as when a President uses Executive Orders to circumvent the constitution and our very form of govt.

And yeah, other President's have pulled some of this shit too.

And that's what I keep saying to Obama-Maniacs: Stop babbling that Obama does the same thing as Bush. Obama was SUPPOSED to be BETTER and CHANGE this kind of shit.

Instead he has taken it to another level.

No matter who is in office...this is not the way our Federal govt. is supposed to work. From the thieving lifetime/career Senators and House members right on to the President...we have politicians who are only interested in their own agenda.

Why doesn't anyone sue Boehner for being in charge of the most "do nothing"(a fact) congress in our history?

It's exactly how it's supposed to work. When Congress refuses to do what's right, the executive order gives the President to work around them. Plain and simple.

Hopefully he will FINALLY be "fired" in the next election (as they ALL should be).

But now that I think of it...I'm sort of the opinion that I wish all lawmakers would "do nothing" (maybe all go home to their home states and get real jobs).

How many damn more laws do we really need to have the govt. run our lives for us?

I ain't religious, but the 10 commandments seemed to me to just about cover all the bases.

National Ball of Wax Day? Really? I could list some of the EO's Bush or Reagan made, such as circumventing the Geneva Convention in order to implement torture, but whats the point. The bottom line though is they all had to do with skirting around the law, not declaring National Ball of Wax Day, lol.

What 'other level' has Obama taken it to? The power of EO's are written in the Constitution. If an executive order was found to exceed the powers of the executive branch as defined by the Constitution, Congress has the right to challenge and overturn the order by a 2/3 majority vote. This is EXACTLY how its supposed to work. Yet instead of doing that, they want to stroke the tea party to make it appear Obama is doing something illegal, they are betting the average FOX watcher is clueless about the Constitution and how EO's work, and they are right.

If the President was doing illegal and unconstitutional things, then impeach him. But they can't impeach because there is no impeachable offense. This is just more bullshit grandstanding at taxpayers expense, like trying 50 different times to get rid of the ACA, or having Darrell Issa spend billions on idiotic witch hunts that lead to nowhere.

FOX has lost 25% of its viewership in the past 13 years, and its median viewership age is 68.8 years old (O'Reilly's average viewership age is 72 years old). With the US average life expectancy of 78 years old its not difficult to see whats going on. FOX News knows its days are numbered unless they change something.

"The bottom line though is they all had to do with skirting around the law"

No, they don't. And neither have Obama's. You are just typing without thinking. Most "Executive Orders" are for little things. That's the whole idea behind them.

As for your statement that the EVIL Bush made executive orders to skirt the Geneva Convention...name it.
And then also explain to me how the Geneva Convention has anything to do with our constitution and form of govt.

The vast majority of Executive Orders are always dumb "proclamations" and such. They aren't meant to be anything.

What Pres. Obama has done during his administration is make a few that actually DID bypass the other two branches of govt.
Did Bush ever do that? Yep.

So if you're happy that Obama did the SAME EXACT THING as Bush...good for you.
But unfortunately for me, I am a sucker who actually fell for Obama's fucking lies in 2008 when he presented himself as being different. I'm not going to be an "obama-apologist" and say "Oh Bush did it too!"

This is a dumb conversation. Either Pres. Obama is a better man than Bush or he is not. I see NO evidence that he is any better at all.

Nope. Executive orders have significant influence over the internal affairs of government, deciding how and to what degree laws will be enforced, dealing with emergencies, waging war, and in general fine policy choices in the implementation of broad statutes. If Congress doesnt like an EO then it is their duty to strike it down with a 2/3 vote. The whole idea behind them is not to declare 'National Wax Day' or whatever.

Just as every President since George Washington has done. That is the purpose of EO's, to bypass the two branches of govt. Once again, if Congress has a problem they are within their power to overturn it. So tell me, what EO has Obama done that has bypassed the Constitution like you keep claiming? And if Congress has a problem why don't THEY follow the Constitution and overturn whatever they have a problem with instead of filing suits and acting like a bunch of whiny ass losers?

Obama is doing the same exact thing every other President has done. People are only defending him against the nutty hypocrisy. I would ask you though, why don't YOU have a problem with the republicans wasting over $14 million dollars on 54 attempts to repeal ACA and 5 Benghazi investigations and now this?

LOL. The Executive Orders are not used all the time to circumvent congress. They are used for things like establishing the "Purple Heart" medal, federal parks, etc.

Pres. Obama used an "Executive Order" to raise the wage of Federal workers (you know, the ones who are paid by the American taxpayer) for instance.

He first went all in balls deep to make sure that The Affordable Health Care Act was the LAW OF THE LAND. And now he keeps waving his pen and CHANGING the way the law is implemented as though it means nothing. (waivers, exemptions, delays)

I don't give a damn if I agree or disagree with what the Pres. is attempting to accomplish. The bottom line is...it's not supposed to be easy to do things. It's supposed to be 3 branches of govt. fighting it out and occasionally implementing something.

All this talk of "do nothing" Congress sounds just about the way it's supposed to be.

Do you REALLY want MORE laws???

Check it out:
"They?ve been accumulating, of course, for more than 200 years. When federal laws were first codified in 1927, they fit into a single volume. By the 1980s, there were 50 volumes of more than 23,000 pages.

And today? Online sources say that no one knows. The Internal Revenue Code alone, first codified in 1874, contains more than 3.4 million words and, if printed 60 lines to the page, is more than 7,500 pages long. There are about 20,000 laws just governing the use and ownership of guns.

New laws mean new crimes. From the start of 2000 through 2007, Congress had created at least 452 new crimes, so that at that time the total number of Federal crimes exceeded 4,450."

I have a problem that it supposedly costs $14 Million dollars to have a bunch of politicians sitting in the chambers they are supposed to sit at anyway and TALK about shit and claim it costs $14 million dollars to simply do their job.

I have no problem with any branch of govt. being a watchdog over the other. I only wish the press were as diligent now as they used to be. That's supposed to be their job.

If Nixon were alive today he would be wishing he had the media that we have today. He never would have gotten in any trouble at all.

Well technically there is no statue or provision that permits executive orders so this is going to be very interesting thing to watch. There is no were in the constitution executive orders are mentioned at all. So the justices are a bit of a pickle here. If they rule that executive orders are unconstitutional you will never see another president issue one. if they are ruled constitutional Obama wins.

If i was potus legal counsel i would be arguing that they are constitutional just to force the court to set a ruling on this once and for all.

Now if the court rules they are unconstitutional are the current executive orders that are in the books ruled null? If so oh what a mess!

On a side note dems should be thanking Boehner immigration reform will be going through very quickly now.

Yeah, technically THIS is what an Executive Order is supposed to be:
"In Article I Section I of the Constitution it is clear that all legislative powers reside in Congress. The Executive Branch has the responsibility to execute the laws passed by Congess. An Executive Order is not legislation it is a order issued by the President to enforce laws passed by the Congress."

Without Congress...the Executive Order is definitely unconstitutional.

Without Congress...the Executive Order is definitely unconstitutional.
Yeah but then the question remains is the Executive Order constitutional in the first place.
slippery slope we are dealing with here. I would love to see any president stripped of these powers. They all abuse them left and right. Then i would love to see signing statements gone as well.

I agree.

The Founding Fathers had a vision to keep govt. from becoming too powerful by having three branches. And the executive and legislative branches NEED to be at odds in my opinion. And the Executive order is a way to circumvent that.

The real problem though are lifetime/career politicians in Congress. It's been far too easy for these corrupt lifetime politicians to enrich themselves and bankrupt our country.

Hell they probably laugh at people always worrying about the President.

Harry Reid has been in Washington D.C. since 1983! He's seen Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and now Obama all come and go.

It's people like him who are the reason everything is so fucked up in our country. Remember Strom Thurmond?
He was in office for 48 YEARS!

That's where the real power is at. In the Legislative Branch.

And that's why I kind of LIKE that the Republicans are blocking so much shit.
Yeah, they are doing it for the wrong reasons...but at least it keeps a small percentage of the shit that Congress does down.

"They’ve been accumulating, of course, for more than 200 years.

I'm with you on to many laws, they need to be revising current laws with more common sense and eliminate destructive laws, such as drug laws, sentencing laws, etc. As times progress so should laws. But if your big issue is an EO from Obama that gives higher wages to some workers, is that really something to lose sleep over? Here's a fun fact for ya, did you know the NSA was created and and handed virtually all the power it has today by an Executive Order from Reagan? Do you see the hypocrisy here? I personally could give two shits about Obama, I really don't even consider myself a democrat, its the HYPOCRISY that gets me.

I think the NSA is a travesty. I think that the "War On Drugs" started by Richard Nixon is a travesty.

I don't see any hypocrisy from me on that. I'm an equal opportunity lover of freedom and of the govt. staying out of our lives and pocket books.

As for what the President is doing...hell yes I have a problem with every politician spending our tax money like it's nothing.
Yeah, he doesn't mind raising the wages of federal employees! Why not? The govt. doesn't EARN it's money. It takes it from us.

But in the bigger picture...everytime something like that is done without the consent of Congress, it goes against our entire structure of govt.
Doesn't matter if you "like" what he did or not. It's a bad thing.
