Interesting question.

I built a new 8 core AMD with a 128G SSD and 3 1TB SATA . The operating system on the SSD rocks. Install is LINUX new Kubuntu LTS14.04 however no license worries but the installed programs are the issue.

So, here is a bump for an answer.

I suggest getting a 1 TB SSD.

My iPhone has 16 GB, constantly annoyed with it.

My laptop has 120 GB, constantly annoyed with it.

My video machine has 250 GB, constantly annoyed with it.

SSD is fantastic, but don't get a small size in an attempt to save money. It will only drive you nuts. Of my 4 computers, my laptop and it's SSD boot up the fastest by far, no more than 5 seconds.

I did it back in the day without a clean install, you have to lower the partition in disk manager to be lower size then your new ssd drive, then do windows backup then restore backup to your new hard drive, then just swap the old drive with your ssd and you're at the same point as you were before.

Exactly what I did a month ago.

Take a SSD as big as you can (I opted for a 512GB).

It's wonderful for editing and to watch full HD scenes once they're finished.
