Designer Question - GoFuckYourself.com

Once the page has been made. How long should it take the average designer to slice up the page? This is a mainstream project, a few graphics, nothing major. No graphics like porn tours or anything like that.

I'm pretty good friends with my go to guy - if he's busy, it can sometimes take a week or two. If he's not busy at all(pretty rare), a full work day.

I've paid extra for it to be expedited a couple of times, too.

I am referring to not the wait, but the actual work time to slice.

Using Sprites?
css3?
cross browser/device checking?
Frameworks?

How long is a piece of string?

Just because 5 years ago you could open something in image ready and output it direct to html... you cant today.

Without seeing the site, it's impossible to say. 2 hours or 2 months.

Well by questioning I assume your project is being paid by the hour?

If you dont trust your designer with logging hours then you either need a new designer or you need to have your projects package priced.

Either way its impossible to give you any sort of accurate answer without knowing the site structure or complexity of it.

a few hours
it`s a option in the design programs to slice it into HTML
you just mark the areas with your mouse, and then you pres the option " slice intro html " it will cut it for you and put the images in a folder and give you the html to call it up

most designers hold a large buffer and tell you it will take a lot of time. Mind the HOLD BUFFER issue, it will cost you a lot of hours you pay for someone smoking a joint and laughing his ass off

inbuilt slicing options are nothing but shit., it need lots of work to be done.

+1 on that... hard to guestimate a timeframe without any knowledge of how the site is presented.
