Folks in the community are criticizing the policy and questioning why such high-powered weapons are needed on campus?and in the hands of the school police. Francisco Orozco, a recent high school graduate and founder of the Compton Democratic Club?a group that discusses local policies?said that students have complained about the campus police's excessive force and that there was a lawsuit filed by parents last year in the district about the school police's racial profiling. (Fox News Latino reported that Hispanics and Latinos make up 65 percent of the Compton community and African-Americans make up 33 percent.)

Why do they have to shove the phrase "terrorist attacks" in there? Your students are who you're afraid of and everyone knows it. Especially that ONE kid who everyone knows is a little bit off but nothing can can be done about it until he snaps. Just admit it.

Not surprised. More and more Americans are arming themselves with more and more powerful weapons. Cops are either being outgunned, or getting scared, or both, so getting the cops bigger guns and associated items only makes sense. Of course it doesn't help that they now also have access to used hardware from the Iraq war.

Why would I thank those gun-hating idiots? They advocate anti-gun legislation like mandatory background checks. And what's with your attitude? Why shouldn't I be able to purchase whatever gun I want, so long as someone else is willing to make the trade, and so long as I can afford to pay? There wouldn't be a need for COPs if everyone took responsibility for their own protection. You sound like the scared one; too scared to fire your own damn gun -- you hire other men to do it for you.
