Not To Sound Too Old But ............

Cars had swag when I was a kid - a greaser on our street had one of these and would gun down the street as we played street hockey sending us kids and the goal nets diving out of the way of the Corvette.

This bad boy from 1969 sold for $690,000 at Mecum.

Nothing has really changed.

Yes, some of the cars from the 1950s or 1960s had a lot of "character". But most of the cars from that era were ugly cookie cutter cars made in bulk.

Mustangs are a great example. Some of them look great.

But the majority of them were plain and boring...

Then today we still have cars with lots of character and swag....

I didn't know that. Don't forget the corvair was also supposed to be the mid-engined corvette way back when- We all know how that ended up!

Saw a Vette like that on a flatbed yesterday, covered in dust. Side pipes and all.

There's talk of a midengine Vette for 2016-17.

A car I owned for 15 years but sold a few years ago ?. 1968 Shelby KR500.

Far from an ordinary Mustang.

(I had the stock wheels and tires but didn't want to risk damaging them so had a set of Cragar SS and Radial T/A's.)

think about that

Now you see I like that green vintage mustang a whole lot better than that modern 2015 Corvette.

To me that 2015 Corvette looks like something an adolescent computer geek or science fiction nutter would want. But to me it's just ugly and illustrates everything that's wrong with today. (And no I'm not old enough to remember the 60s. )

Haven't heard the term "greaser" in ages LOL.

Guy from "way back" had a new L88 in that series

Year

Production L88
1967 20
1968 80
1969 116

This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible sold for $3.2 million - a record as far as Corvettes are concerned.
http://www.thel88corvette.com/

Quote:
[W]hen the L88 was ordered, Chevy made several individual options mandatory, including Positraction, the transistorized ignition, heavy-duty suspension, and power brakes, as well as RPO C48, which deleted the normal radio and heater to cut down on weight and discourage the car's use on the street. As costly as it was powerful - at an additional $1,500 over the base $4,240.75 price - the L88 engine and required options were sold to a mere 20 buyers that year ...
