Mass Murderer Entering Church

He sat in the church for an hour before opening fire - chilling seeing people like this right before they take it upon themselves to end other people's lives in cold blood. to some extent murders done in anger/retribution, murders for financial gain are understandable but to just slaughter innocent people whom you don't know, have never done anything to you is incomprehensible.

This is so tragic and heartbreaking.

I thought it may have been one of those two guys who escaped from that prison some days ago. This kinda turns the attention away from that, which would have been the whole idea.

But whoever is responsible, I hope he's hunted down. Dead or alive (preferably dead).

i'm not taking sides either, but the "data" referred to was mass shootings. the legal terms are mass shootings v. active shooter.
the legal definition of mass shooting is 3+ dead

Yup, because the church shooting was obviously very racially-motivated. And one thing the media didn't portray the escaped prisoners as, was racists. So I doubt anyone's first suspicion upon hearing about the church shooting was "I bet it was one of those damned escaped prisoners."

While we now know it was unrelated to the escaped prisoners...at the time, I suspected this to be a staged event by one of them. The motive being to get their mugshots off the front page of every newspaper (because it worked). This would prove them greater mobility, due to no more awkward moments of having to stand beside their mugshots everywhere they may go, hoping they aren't recognized. I doubt they want to go back to prison. I hope this makes some sense to you.

So lets say someone with AK47 enters the mall ful of people, starts shooting all directions, wounds some people, but no one (or just one, or 2) dies. You would not call it mass shooting?

Again, these are not my definitions. I am not the expert. I read what I can, learn the definitions and try to form rationale views based on experts that spend their lives and careers trying to understand the issues. I posted a link to one of those experts.

The escapes couldn't find a black church where they escaped because it would be too obvious it was them.
So they drove 900+ miles to Charleston SC and then realized they needed to throw us off their trail by shooting some people.
