I have used nothing but mac's since 1998. Mac-pro's, iMac's, macbook's, iPhones, given numerous units as gifts, zero problems ever. Ever. Why would I ever consider anything else?

No problems ever, it just works and given that it has the most open, extensible and developer friendly environment of any proprietary system it's the obvious choice for serious developers of code.

I currently have several Macs and MacBooks, iPad and iPhone and it all just seamlessly works together.

Most of the people who have issues with Macs would probably be challenged tying their shoelaces, some people are just inherently stupid and probably shouldn't be using any kind of computer anyway.

I've had a few issues here & there with my Macs but never something that I couldn't easily figure out how to fix.

For the morons who feel that I'm less intelligent than them because I use a Mac instead of a PC -

I use a Mac because I enjoy the experience of using Macs

I use both on a daily basis.

Does that make me super intelligent?

I think it's that they don't want to admit they spent too much money on something that isn't any better than a PC. I bought an iMac once and it used to white sceen quite often from over heating and eventually it wouldn't boot anymore..

Apple ignored the issue for ever then once they were outdated, they admitted that there was a bad batch if ATI vid cards that were causing the problem.. Ironically it was long after the iMac was well outdated and out of warranty, so they wouldn't have to issue a recall.

My iPad mini has shit range for wifi, which is yet another known issue and the mobile version of safari crashes from time to time much like internet explorer on the PC.. Usually it's when flash videos are involved and the iOS loads quick time instead.

There's not one thing I own from my house to my vehicles to my furniture to the whiskey I'm drinking to the dinner I just ate, that I couldn't have bought a cheaper version of that would have probably done the same thing.

Real poor point.

Bought first MacBook pro in 2009.... Had to put new hard drive in in last summer, otherwise still perfect

Second MacBook bought last year, no problems

iPad 2 bought three years ago, still works as good as out of box

Two iPhones over 5 years, never cracked or broke despite being dropped dozens of times

iPhone 6 plus recently purchased , hopefully won't drop this one, I'm not sure it could take being dropped as easily as past ones, but no problems so far

Since 2009 I have not got a virus, seen a blue screen of death, or had to deal with any problems

They are not for everyone, but I personally would never sit in front of a PC again by choice

Vehicles runs faster, furniture looks better and/or is more durable, whiskey tastes better or/and easier hangover, food tastes better and/os is "healthier", phone.... rings better?

..... and every mac product I have ever owned worked perfect and did exactly what I wanted it to do. But I should look around for something cheaper?

IF the cheaper does the same thing - of course. Who wouldn't.

While in the instance of your car cheaper would be slower or in the instance of your food cheaper would be less tasty etc. So they would not be the same thing.

I guess brand loyalty for trouble free products means nothing to you? Every time you purchase something you disregard past experience and start from scratch? Good for you.

If I find THE SAME THING cheaper why wouldn't I?
If I paid 10 for bottle of water and I found the same water for 9 of course I would buy it.
Or if I paid 10 for petrol and I found it for 9 of course I would switch.
Granted those were the same things, not better or worse.

I am leaning you towards admitting that you think apple is better/best thus making others NOT the same thing.

Wrong, we are not even arguing. I think we merely have different definitions of "the same thing". Cheaper vehicle is not the same thing as more expensive... Don't you agree?

No. I don't give a shit about computers. To me a computer is nothing more that a tool to help me accomplish a goal. The cost is irrelevant because I only care about the end result. I get no satisfaction from what's inside the computer or how I can make one myself or buy something "just as good" for less. Those things never enter my train of thought.

Past trouble free performance is the only criteria I care about. Until I start having problems or mac's can't do what I expect from them I would be foolish to change.

Take care ......... Gotta finish my new Lee Child book.

I have had nothing but problems with macs personally while my partner has had very good luck. I tried the original iMac with the colored shell...crashed and took it back.

Year later I tried MacBook Pro...would not boot up. I took it back to the Apple store at the Beverly Center to exchange...they pulled out another one from the back and tried to boot it up...did not work...they tried on 4 more (everyone they had in stock of that configuration) and none of them worked (clearly a factory fault) so I got a refund.

Last year I bought my partner a new MacBook Pro with the retina display and SSD...worked 1 day and then the screen went out. Took it back...this time to the Apple store at the Grove in L.A. and they replaced it no questions asked.

So while I do agree that if you get one that works initially they last damn near forever, they are not perfect and I certainly have experience more than my share of bad luck with them!!

i do - and more than you think - that's why i say that

i have probably worked more and longer with Macs than most of the Mac owners here - including owning two Power Books myself

(of which one sits with a dead display in my office and I use it via VNC)

I was thinking you were a Mac user but your experience does not match mine at all.

I've used Macs since '92 and I use both Win and Macs on a daily basis. Win constantly something wrong and Macs just work.

For me it comes down to pure dread of Win UI to enjoyment on Mac.

There's no magic, they use good quality hardware. Some other manufactures are great too - I have never had a problem with any of our Panasonic toughbooks, and one is 10 years old... I have one dead screen controller (or maybe the wires going to the screen - not sure) on a Mac book, one dead hard drive in a mini. In the same time my company went through a mountain of dead toshiba and HP crapbooks, over 20.

At the moment the Wifi sucks on my Macbook air after upgrading to Mavericks which is annoying though.

yes, different people have different experiences

that's why you can't generalize - but still everyone does - from both sides

i have no problem when people are happy with their Apple stuff - it is just simply not true that Apple hardware never breaks and all the other does all the time

Again...one would expect the computer to work perfectly when the hardware and operating system are from the same manufacturer...BUT it is a testament to Windows that it functions and any of an endless number of configurations for thousands of different vendors and companies.

Certainly there are going to have to be more updates with this incredible diversity of hardware that the Windows OS runs on!

Not to mention that hackers are much more eager to hit the OS with the largest customer usage base since the goal is maximum damage!

I can't even believe that you would take time out of your day to argue how wrong somebody is about that. You must be bored too LOL!

BTW, I think you would agree with me that any grown men who want to argue about what kind of computer is best for another grown man has to be a stupid douche. Who gives a fuck what kind of computer another man uses?

You gotta love GrapeSoda starting stupid threads just to get people riled up LOL!!!

To an extent, the "us versus them" probably does keep some people from speaking out about bad Mac experiences. On the other hand, I've used Windows, Linux, and various other *nix formats, and nothing comes close to Mac OS X for reliability, appropriateness as a coding platform, and easy-of-use.

For serious development, it's the only real option.

I have always had both Mac and PCs. The only thing that ever happens in my Mac is a browser crash from Flash. PCs too many problems to even list.

I made the switch to Mac in 2006. First Mac was a piece of shit PowerBook. It had kernel crashes on a daily basis. Usually multiple times a day.

2nd Mac was a Mac Pro tower. It worked quite well but very loud and cranked out a lot of heat.

First Mac Book Pro I had died after about 2.5 years (motherboard issue).

2nd MacBook Pro 17" still works. Occasional issues where the screen won't turn back on after waking up. Crashes once every few months.

3rd Macbook Pro is my work one my company gave me. It works great. No issues. Hasn't crashed once yet. Been using it daily for about 6 months now.

I also have a gaming system I converted to a Hackintosh. It works great for rendering photos in Aperture. The high end GPU works great for processing RAW photos. It's so much faster than my laptop. Alas, I only use it when I need the horsepower as I'm sure it's sucking up 600-800 watts when it is cranking on stuff. Occasional random reboots but I think it was because I had the memory overclocked. I underclocked it and haven't seen a crash since. Recording audio didn't work because the fan noise in the background was just too damn loud.

Also, purchased the iMac 5k because I wanted something quieter that used less power. Also, screen real estate is crucial for me. I can never get enough. I'm loving it so far. It's great for coding and graphic design because you need so many windows open at once. I run it at the native 5120x2880. Too small for most people but I have really good eye sight. 180 lines of code on the screen vertically.

Granted those were the same things, not better or worse.

I am leaning you towards admitting that you think apple is better/best thus making others NOT the same thing.
Because a Mac is not the same thing as a "PC" as you call it. If you knew that, you'd understand. But you don't. We get it you don't want a Mac. That's your call. But we do, and we don't care about the price. When you buy the machine I use 16 hours a day to run my business, then I'll take your concerns into consideration.

I've tried to switch to Mac a couple of times, bu I dont like the operating system. I dont like having to relearn how to do something that just me seconds to do on my PC.

I do like my iPhone though.

you guys need to be comparing apples to apples... not apples to oranges...

no shit that $299 PC you bought from walmart has problems, but $2999 mac doesn't... it doesn't mean that macs are better... you are just comparing apples to oranges...

compare $2999 PC with a $2999 mac, and you will see that you get same reliability as the mac, but you get 2x the performance for the same price...

Not a bad point. Haven't seen it positioned this way before.

You nailed it right here.

There is nothing that comes close when you're developing code.

It's 2014 and you can't even open a terminal window on Windows, you're still stuck with command or cmd which gives you access to no development or decent network tools whatsoever (except for a poorly implemented trace route and ping).

But... if I enjoy the experience of using a Mac more than a PC, Imma' get me a Mac. It's funny that people think they know what every computer user should look for in a computer. That they know what is important to every computer user. I used PC's for years before switching to Macs and I like Macs better. I can't help it if dumb people can't understand this simple concept. Nigga's be like "OMG the PC is cheaper so you must be dumb for spending mo' money for a Mac when you can get a superior machine for 1/2 the price" LOL! Fuck you - I'll use what I want and if you don't like it - eat shit and die
