Introduction
Frequently asked questions about our data usage plans.
We'll be launching multiple trial approaches, and here is an overview:

In the Nashville, Tennessee market, we have increased our monthly data usage plan for all XFINITY Internet tiers to 300 GB per month and also offer additional gigabytes in increments/blocks (e.g., $10.00 per 50 GB).

In the Tucson, Arizona market, we announced in 2012 that the data amount included with Economy Plus through Performance XFINITY Internet tiers would increase from 250 GB to 300 GB. Those customers subscribed to the Blast! Internet tier, have received an increase in their data usage plan to 350 GB; Extreme 50 customers have received an increase to 450 GB; Extreme 105 customers have received an increase to 600 GB. As in our other trial market areas, we offer additional gigabytes in increments/blocks of 50 GB for $10.00 each in the event the customer exceeds their included data amount.

In Huntsville and Mobile, Alabama; Atlanta, Augusta and Savannah, Georgia; Central Kentucky; Maine; Jackson, Mississippi; Knoxville and Memphis, Tennessee and Charleston, South Carolina, we have begun a trial which will increase our data usage plan for all XFINITY Internet tiers to 300 GB per month and will offer additional gigabytes in increments/blocks (e.g., $10.00 per 50 GB). In this trial, XFINITY Internet Economy Plus customers can choose to enroll in the Flexible-Data Option to receive a $5.00 credit on their monthly bill and reduce their data usage plan from 300 GB to 5 GB. If customers choose this option and use more than 5 GB of data in any given month, they will not receive the $5.00 credit and will be charged an additional $1.00 for each gigabyte of data used over the 5 GB included in the Flexible-Data Option.

In Fresno, California, Economy Plus customers also have the option of enrolling in the Flexible-Data Option.

This shouldn't be a Right vs Left thing as this is not a political issue. However Republicans in Congress have once again turned a non political issue into a political talking point. Now we have morons like Ted Cruz running around calling net neutrality "Obamacare for the internet".

This is your livelihoods in jepordy and once again Republicans are trying to stop any net neutrality laws and allow companies like comcast to turn the internet into a tiered user base.

Anyone that owns or promotes video sites should understand how bad this is.. People need to start waking up and finding out what your state's congressmen positions are on net neutrality as now with a Republican majority, this is a much more serious threat..

Aside from the option of dropping your usage to 5gb then getting hit with fees for anything over that, this has been going on for a long time already.

The end goal here is to end competition to their cable TV service. They will lower the GB amount in time to put companies whom threaten their cable TV business. Ie think Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime, HBO direct and the others that might not be as popular or those who will come in the future.

If you think they will not do this, you are going to be in for a big surprise. This is the very reason they are putting so much money in the pockets on congress to make sure net neutrality doesn't provide a fair internet business place.

I don't doubt it could happen, I was just pointing out that data caps have been in place for internet users for years. Cable companies are seeing more and more people cutting off cable and just watching shows online, downloading them or watching things like Netflix then ever before. They will eventually end up coming up with ways to make up for those loses.

With HBO and CBS both putting their content online I think we will see more of this and more changes in cable. I won't be shocked to see some cable companies start to offer a la carte options where you can just pay for the channels you want. I also won't be shocked to see them cut the amount of transfer you get per month by a large amount so if you are going to watch TV/movies online you will have to pay them one way or the other.

I am all for maintaining 100% net neutrality, but I don't think maintaining net neutrality will stop them from doing this if they want.

They have only been able to do this since net neutrality ended. When the FCC decided they didn't have the authority to push net neutrality. After that cable companies have been greasing g the pockets of Congress and fighting every attempt to make net neutrality law.

During this time, they have also started introducing these data caps and pushing in the walls of a free Internet until they can charge you for every gig you use. Meanwhile their networks run on got subsidized data lines..

Before net neutrality ended, they could not cap data usage.

I moved into the house I am living in now back in 2004. At the time the best internet speed I could get was 10Mbps. It had a 100gb cap on it. If I used more transfer than that I had to pay extra. I'm pretty sure this was before any talk of net neutrality.

It's being said by many people that things were much better before the Internet.

Personally I really don't know. But I can honestly say that on the average people seemed to be a lot nicer.
