Mr Blanc has apologised, saying his intention was "a horrible attempt at humour" taken out of context.

Appearing on US network CNN on Monday, Mr Blanc said: "I just want to apologize, you know, to anybody I've offended in any way.

He's apologizing for what went down as a result of his actions. He is not apologizing for his actions, his conduct or behavior. Would be great if someone removes him and his buddies from the gene pool.

Well its not like he was a UK citizen. It's a visa after all - you can be denied a visa for any particular reason on matter of public interest (as far as I am aware). Personally, I think it was a good call....

My understanding is that he has been denied a visa and that is totally different to being banned from ever visiting the UK. I'm sure once the storm is over and some time passed, if he were to apply for a visa it will not be a problem, in the future, as every application will be considered on its merits. It may also be relevant what kind of visa he applied for.

Is this a reason to ban someone from the UK.

We are supposed to have freedom of speech in the UK.

It becomes a dangerous matter when people are banned for simply speaking.

Simply put, someone could come to the UK who wants to expose part of the system as corrupt. It would be easy for the government to ban them.

We are already putting people into prison without charge because they are expressing (or we are told they are) extremist views.

I do not know about you, but I would be interested to listen to an extremist muslim (for example) on his/her views. They are not going to convert me. But I may find what they have to say interesting and thought provoking. I may think they are talking utter rubbish. But I would wish to listen. And not have my government ban them from speaking.
