Dyson vacuum owners? Our DC50 Animal arrived yesterday.

Dyson DC50 Animal. $349.00 from QVC.
It assembled easy enough. It feels flimsy compared to our Electrolux vacuum.
Had a difficult time releasing the extension piece that's attached to the handle.
My wife and I have it figured out now.

I vacuumed our living room with the Electrolux first, then with the Dyson. The dirt the Electrolux left behind was unbelievable.

UK doesnt make jack shit these days but Dyson is one rare excellent British exception........ everyone who uses a public toilet knows about the Dyson air blade. The Dyson hoovers are beyond compare and don't forget the Dyson bladeless fans.

My wife with hardly any patience started complaining how cheep it felt. The attachment hose, (the way you have to pull from the back), she didn't like. "Is it going to coil itself back the way it was?" . I suggested she go back into the kitchen and watch the Steelers game, leave me alone.

How was I to assemble this thing with her breathing down my neck and my daughter wanting piggy back rides.

Used to have the upright, found it a bit clunky especially if you want to use the hose that comes out. Now we have a canister and the cordless. With 3 animals in the house this thing is amazing. We could not live without it.

Can't wait for them to launch their robot.

Ive been following this since the 3500 was developed 5 years ago. That thing was huge and never made it into production. At the time it was slated to cost around $3000.00. Obviously way to expensive. Whats the price of this latest model ?

I'm waiting patiently for the robot too, it looks pretty sick. I have a stupid vacuum cleaner that I bought thinking it was more mobile than a dyson upright, how wrong was I. It's a pain in the ass for a quick clean up job, you have to commit to doing the whole house. I bought it 4 months ago, it's pissing me off so much that I'm going to pickup a Dyson cordless for doing the quick clean up/stairs jobs. Should have bought it in the first place with a spare battery, would have easily handled my whole house with 2 batteries.

We have a German Shepherd and the Animal is the only thing that keeps up with him. Every other vacuum quickly ended up in the trash heap.

Animal for the win.

I thought it was 2014? I'll have to double check my calender.

We live in a modest home, with a small child. Hopefully one day I'll reach the vacuum pinnacle where my family and I will be tripping over them. In the mean time, supporting my family and putting food on the table is priority one.

Same happened to our old Electrolux vacuum. The suction just quit. The motor high revvved but that was it. I suggested a Dyson back then but she's stuck on the Electrolux. I am glad I bought the Dyson Animal.

Good call, when you're cremated, only a Dyson will collect all the ashes.

I'm assuming you're leaving a note in your will: "When I pass away, please check my bookmarks. There's a link to a Dyson and you can use that to clean up my ashes. It does a better job than any other vacuum cleaner."

Otherwise, should get someone else to bookmark it....

after having a roomba for almost 2 years vacuuming by hand seems just as smart as washing your cloths by hand.

I have one of these you posted, an Animal from a few years back and my 10+ year old original that still sucks like it did the day we got it.

But the one model that is by far the best machine they make, the DC59 Digital Slim.

I bought a Miele 2 years ago. Love it! Its a German company known for quality and has a lot of history.

Miele S8990 UniQ

And I have one of the Miele Stick Vacs which are super bad ass! All of the parts are interchangeable with my Miele canister vac.

Bought a Simplicity Vacuum 20 years ago and it still works great!! Sill have it been using it at my studio. Had it serviced and cleaned 2 times in twenty years. Couldn't throw it away.

Saving Good People from Bad Vacuums Symmetry Premium

I hate buying things twice and Im always leery of anything that has excellent marketing as does Dyson. I have never heard anything bad about Dyson from Dyson owners, but I ask my vacuum questions to the vacuum repair guys. They seem to always be fixing Dyson's and other brands. These were not just words, I saw what they were actually repairing. I was showed the parts used in Dysons and other brands. Was also shown what fails 1st in a lot of vacuums.

Was also informed that if your vacuum lasts 5 years, your in good shape.

They recommend, Miele, Simplicity, Royal(My mom still has her Royal from 40 years ago, All metal construction) and another one I don't remember.

If my Miele lasts as long as my Simplicity did, Its the last Vacuum I need to buy.

Miele is a quality vacuum manufacturer. Dyson is ok but you're paying a massive premium for the name/hype and nowhere near the quality.

Bullshit......... Miele is a very quality name but not in vacuum cleaners. Dyson is the king of vacuum cleaners - they are the MOST powerful on the market.

You obviously have not owned a Dyson recently - dual and multi cyclone kicks ass and latest Dyson technologies beyond compare.
