:mad Welfare Payout Statistics by State

Having trouble just making ends meet because of taxes that go to people who don?t work?

Check your State and see how you?d do not working at all!

FULL STORY

A Cato Institute study has determined that welfare benefits in fact payout more than a full time minimum wage job in at least 35 states! WTF?

1. The free money is more than $15 an hour in over ten states
2. Welfare is more than a newly college educated teacher in eleven states makes
3. Outdoes the salary of a computer programmer in three states!
4. The highest welfare payouts are over $20 an hour! (Hawaii, with payments equaling $29.13 per hour, DC at $24.43 per hour, Massachusetts at $24.30 , Connecticut at $21.33, New York at $21.01 per hour, New Jersey at $20.89 per hour, Rhode Island at $20.83 per hour and Vermont at $20.36 per hour)

Sounds to me like this article combines "all possible entitlements" and when totaled up it's a huge number, but.... For example, not everyone is going to qualify for WIC benefits.

I have a friend of mine who is medically retired from both the US Army and the US Post Office. His medical condition started when he was in the Army and he was medically discharged and received a small percentage in benefits. Eventually he got better and went to work for the Post Office, when his medical condition stated again. Now he gets 100% benefits from both. Factor in state disability - because he claims he canot work - and boom, he's pulling in like $60k / $70k a year.

Still, he does have a valid medical condition (He's had a dozen operations on his brain) and it could kill him at any time. He has water on the brain.

This site is total bs. In mn they get the same that they did in 1984, $532 per month with two kids. Yep, they get housing and food stamps but good luck.

After looking at the numbers I seen the same thing.

Problem is, seems the people that "work" the system try to get as many as they can....

Let me try to remember what my friend was getting

Food Stamps $350 to $480 a month
Cash $150 a Month
Section 8 housing about $850 a month
LEAP energy assistance $1,200 Normally a year, but sometimes a small Summer amount in addition.

Free Medical for her kids, which she took to the ER for Everything...(has to be a crazy amount of $$$)

Free School Breakfast and Lunches for her 3 kids $3.5 per kid per day.
Free School for the kids (once a year thing) $300 maybe
Government Phone (No idea on cost)

Earned Income about $8,000 to $12,000 including state back a year

I am sure there is More....

In addition to the government stuff
She got Child Support and was on unemployment for a very long time.
CS was $500 a month I believe maybe $700 and
unemployment was like $400 a week for a couple years.

Kind of a skewed way to look at it.

Rent in New York City, Hawaii etc... makes all the difference.

It's pretty easy to initially get some kind of assistance here in Iowa, there has been a large amount of Chicago blacks that moved into town here over the last few years because welfare works much easier than it does in Illinois and they have housing projects going on too. I always like that I could go into one of the downtown city buildings that happened to have a nice basketball court and have some random Chicagoans playing basketball at 1pm on a Tuesday screaming profanity and having the desk ladies telling them to knock it off. I need to play some pickup with them sometime.

Reminds me when I was at a junior college, I got in a situation where I got stuck with 2 feral ghetto blacks and a flaming homosexual; the situation that turned me into a slight bigot.
I would get upset because the blacks would always eat my food, so I came up with a plan, I bought shitty stereotypical black food, $.99 Tv dinners with chicken, oreo cookies, and some other items; worked pretty well actually as the Tv dinners and cookies were a first wave defense for the food I actually liked. It would add $15-20 to my grocery bill, it was a cost of living expense.
Ended up switching to canned goods and stored everything in my closet for the most part.

That was my first experience with what I would call a direct welfare tax.

I'd love to hear the other side of that story.

If it's anything like normal then they would start off with :

1. This stingy motherfucker smokes all our weed and never buys any and then bitches about $3 worth of food.

2. Dude loses shit when he's drunk and swears we stole/ate/trashed or shit on it.

3. Never gets any pussy and that's why his food is in the room

4. Woody Harrelson can jump better

My tax bracket, your tax bracket nor does anyone else's matter as to if it's right to allow a very few rich old fuckers to destroy this county.

However I suspect as usual you, just like your right wingnut buddy's only want to start arguments to distract from the truth which this topic is prime example of. The right wing does anything possible to manipulate stats and lie to the public and people like you eat it up because you actually believe the bull shit that they care about what "you" pay in taxes..

this study is inherently flawed.

first off, as Rochard discussed above, the study bundled together 8 different social programs, and complied statistics based on the incorrect assumption that a recipient of one program would be a recipient of all 8

additionally, the study assumes that no families with one working adult/parent use any of the 8 social programs included in the study. This is patently false, for example as Rick Unger states in his article on the study, in 2011, 86 percent of low-income children receiving health coverage through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) were in working families

(emphasis mine)

the Cato institute is a notoriously biased right wing think tank, I mean Charles Koch was the founder for fuck's sake. they've simply manipulated the data in a malicious attempt to get people all riled up. what's sad is that so many peeps just read headlines and don't bother to actually assess and critique the material that's presented to them.

"However, a basic average guideline for the food stamp program will show that an average family of 4 can expect an amount up to $500 per month for food stamps. This figure will greatly vary based on the age of the family members and medical needs. A single person household will show an expected average of up to $200 per month. Again, these figures are averages and not state specific.

Cash allowance benefits for financial assistance will also be state regulated and allowances paid will also vary based on different criteria. However, an average expectation can be placed on a family of 4 receiving up to $900 for their TANF allowance. A single person household can expect an average of up to $300."

US Welfare System - Help for US Citizens

That previous article might have had a little bit tendentious numbers?

Ok rethought about this. Family of three. Single mother with two kids.

AFDC 532/month
Section 8 housing 1150/month
Food stamps 200/month?

22k a year and I might be missing some stuff like health care. The most of that is federal though so not really state dependent. This is real stuff as I have rental housing and know people in this exact situation.

this is about as relevant as saying the government pays americans 10 grand a year because the govt spends 3.5 trillion dollars on 322 million people.

but i do miss the days when conservative republican george W bush cut everybody a check for 300 bucks in order to stimuli the economy.

I got into the circumstance because the previous semester I had over $150 dollars in damage to a door I kicked in (was locked and couldn't get it open), our security deposit was $150. I was gone all summer traveling on a motorcycle across the United States and didn't pay up (due to being about), they cancelled my renewed lease and gave me the option to renew with them but get stuck with that group (I had no idea). Little did I know the experience would change my opinion of certain kinds of blacks. The gay I lived with was a total queen and loved shoving big objects up his ass, hence the craving and allure of BBC.
I've always been good at getting stories out of people, the worst kind of stories...

To make matters worse, the queen bottomed for one of the black guys and threw a total fit when they would fuck and then a girlfriend of the black would come over and then those two would fuck.

It was nice because the queen threw a fit and told everyone and out of denial the two blacks temporarily migrated to a different dorm for 2 weeks out of somekind of unconscious shame. Came back in full force and partied every night until 3 am and would passively aggressively turn the heat all the way up or cold all the way down. Turn the TV to full blast then leave the apartment.

They got to me and I demanded relocation, which I got.
