Anybody used a product to transfer SD video from a camcorder or a VCR?
I'm shopping a small tool to transfer SD video from an old camcorder and a VCR. My laptop doesn't have a firewire slot and I have Windows 7.
Something like these two products: August VGB100: August VGB100 USB 2.0 Video Capture Device Card - Grabber Lead to Convert VHS / S Video / RGB via USB Transfer Cable - For Windows 8 / 7 / Vista / XP: Amazon.ca: Electronics Elgato Video Capture: https://www.elgato.com/fr/video/video-capture I've never bought one of these before. Anyone used such a tool before that worked well? |

laptops are under powered for converting video, you need to get a good desktop with like an quadcore i7 processor and at least 16 gigs of memory, then get a decent video capture card from winnov or similar
Videum 1010 Plus - Winnov you start using those little plug in things and you will dropped frames we have used winnov products since 1997 for doing live video and encoding video from cameras |

Elgato game capture hd works fine. No dropped frames. I see guys record their classic game consoles with it all rhe time without issue. Just dont get the newer hd60, as they've stripped the composite inputs from it.

I haven't used either of those devices but I have used previous versions of this Pinnacle hardware and had good results. Dazzle DVD Recorder HD - Video Capture Card |

Any of the 2 products the OP posted will work without problems. A laptop made today is many times more powerful that any of the 120+ encoders we used to encode 65,000 DVD's for VOD sites a few years back... |
