Not necessary.

Lets say A state has a number of 400K, B state 450K. But the rest 99% in A state earns on average 70K, in B state 50K. Not saying that it is very likely, but something to consider.

Or alternatively, same numbers A 400K, B 450K. But what about the structure of that 1%? It can be that average salary of those in A state is higher than in B state.
Example, 5 people (represents all of the 1%, just for shorter example of what I mean) of the state A 1000K, 1000K, 900K, 700K, 400K. And 5 people of B 700K, 600K, 500K, 470K, 450K.

Last one is lower for A, but actually A is richer.

So last person of those 1% in A state being less does not necessary mean B is richer. Depends on the structure of the 1%.

Would be if that was average salary of the 1%, but that is the single lowest salary of all the people in 1% Every one is higher and higher.. So not low.

jealousy tax - you earn more, you get ripped of more. Think they would encourage people to generate more value to the country, but no, they punish you for that.

Jealousy tax?

Most of Congress (same people passing laws affecting tax rates) is very firmly in the top 1%. Some are even in the top 1/10th of 1%.

People in Congress make $174k salary and most have a lot more money coming in through other avenues.

The more money taken by one individual pushes many more into poverty reducing their ability to produce wealth.

Bankers helping themselves to money they handle takes money out of the system and has to be supported by lower paid workers who produce real things.

The wealth disparity in Canada is considerably lower in Canada than the US.

Like somebody above me said those income amounts are the average of the top 1%, the mean average income would be lower than the average, you have super wealthy people in the US. I know in Canada to make the top 1% of annual incomes you only need to make about $190K, that would be the bottom people of the top 1% group and I think in the US the figure I saw was around $300K to make the very bottom of the top 1% - so in both countries that would be a lot of professionals - doctors, lawyers, accountants etc - and small business owners.

Maybe I'm wrong about the 'mean' being lower than the average - I really do suck at math.

yep i suck - i meant the 'median' average versus the 'mean' average and in a country like the US where the wealth is very top heavy even in the top 1% the median probably will work out to be lower than the mean.

amirite?

That is less income disparity than has been being reported. If the average household income is approx $55k, then having 1% be only a couple to few hundred k ...

Well, where does that benchmark folks making many millions? Maybe 1% is a misnomer. People in this range are people who work for a living and produce value.

You are confusing money with wealth. making money does not always produce real wealth.

Porn is a good example , making thousands of men wank does not increase the wealth of society directly. Maybe the release is sexual tension improves productivity and deserves some financial reward, but the problem is people taking far more money and power from the system then the wealth they create.
