Exxon Mobil Corporation Entering The EV Game With Charging Facilities

I've been saying they need to do this for some time now - it's just common sense.

The technology is getting better and better for electric cars, and eventually we no longer have the need for gasoline powered cars. At some point in time the oil companies we know today will no longer exist. They nee to move away from being oil companies and start becoming power companies. Eventually gas stations will become charging stations.

technology is not getting better and better for electric cars. try and name one technology of electric cars that has gotten better.

the ICE isn't going anywhere.

No surprise, the big oil companies in the US were all getting into green energy prior to fracking. BP had some of the largest solar farms in the US, the others were also jumping on board even with wind turbines..

Then the fracking boom came along and just about everyone of them sold their green energy sources. Now with oil prices dangerously low to make profit from fracking they are likely scrambling..

fact: marketing sells cars, not tech. EV cars are selling because the television tells people to buy them not because of technology getting better. example: the insane button.

I am not surprised. Mobil has the real estate locations nation (USA) wide.

The real issue is in generating the electricity for vehicle use without just shifting the "carbon footprint" onto the existing power grid.

yes. im ny opinion, you should retire from trading & become an investor. This recent news clarifys why...basically the cost of frequent trading overwhelms the gains of a portfolio relative to buy/hold.

i know trading is far more fun than sitting in a stock for a decade. But the 1000% monster gains come from holding apple computer since 2005. trading costs destroy any comparable gains over the long run.

your best bet is to buy exxon, wait 10 years, & you will be better off than trading over 10 years.

Thanks Joshua for the feedback. Yes, XOM is a dividend aristocrat and I plan on holding long term even if I get put the stock.

- Batteries now last longer
- There are more EV stations
- Composite materials to make cars lighter but maintain strength.
- More eficiente electronics
- Less reliance on hydraulics (using oil for steering and brakes), shift towards electric steering and brake-by-wire (Also: The 2014 Camaros also use electric steering)

Dynamo, you assume that all consumers are idiots, and don't take the time to shop, or read details, etc.

Advertising uses emotion to sell their products, and maybe people buy cars to satisfy the craving those emotional ads generate, but I promise you that many people really look at the numbers before buying such an expensive item.

Think about one of the last computer items you bought. Was it a new monitor? Or a printer? Did you buy it just because it was sexy? Or did you read the specs and compare makes and models before making your purchase?

huh? you're actually trying to claim battery tech is NOT holding back EV? You're claiming an EV station that simply charges a car at 220/110 is a tech advancement? that's simply an electrical cord with a fancy plug.

everything else you mentioned is tech directly NOT attributable to EVs.

you must have never had a real passion for beautiful incredible cars and vehicles to be so disgusted by them now simply because they run on gasoline. that's fine and all, but no need to try and project that on us.

it's not an assumption. It's very simple logic. marketing tells you that by adding yet another car into the world (buying) an EV car, you are helping the environment.

**********, that is a marketing gimmick.

adding a car to the inventory of cars on the planet is green! of all things to believe.
