I Know I am Rubbish - PhotoShop Help Needed Please

Ok so one of my computers blew up... now fixed but all the software gone I had a few Actions on Photoshop for batch processing stuff, such as image re size...

Can someone tell me what a good "Action" is for re sizing images, especially taking into account both shots taken horizontally and vertically

If I can get a fools guide... as I am indeed a fool

If I needed to set up an action for resizing both vertical and horizontal shots - I would bring up a shot in PS, start recording the action, go to: File > Automate > Fit Image... and enter in the largest size you want. For example, if you want the verticals to be 900px tall, and the horizontals to be 900 pixels wide, enter those values in the boxes - hit OK and then stop the recording of the action. Not sure if that's what you were asking???

Adobe Imageready. Import, rotate, do any adjustments then hit export, setup your watermark, sizes, quality etc and save the preset for next time. Export. Done.

Thank me later.

Hmmm...

Think I am making a bit of a botched version of what I need... however one question I have, I want to make sure the Vertical Pictures (Portrait) are a decent size... thinking 1200x1800... but want the Horizontal (Landscape) ones a decent size, but which ever way I set the dimensions the other shape is smaller :/ Hope that makes sense...

If you set both dimensions to 1800 - your verticals will be 1800 pix tall and your horizontals will be 1800 wide

No - it won't make them square. It will restrict the longest side to 1800 pixels - or whatever you decide you want it to be. Try it

Yeah I do have lightroom too... but mainly use that for colour correction and the exposure... not batch processing the re sizing of images... maybe I should take a look

Lightroom will do a lot these days. Even has a healing brush and crop tool You could probably do most in LR unless you needed some serious editing done

Take a class... seriously. I had tried to learn LR for a couple years, but hadn't got very far. Finally, I signed up for a class at my local college and got to close to expert level in about three months. I also learned about printing, and paper types for digital printing--something that I thought I had no interest in, but now do regularly.
