Mark, my point that you keep avoiding is:
IF there were truly man-made global warming that is going to KILL us. Then why aren't any govt.'s mobilizing and doing something? When WW2 occurred the entire country was mobilized. Everything was rationed because it was being applied to the war effort. Everyone HAD to help. That was just a war. The theory that you are believing in would end us a species (how a few degrees warmer...which people have THRIVED in as recently as the Renaissance... would do this, is for you genius's to come up with an excuse for). Now call me crazy...but isn't the END a lot more important than a war? So where is all the govt. action? Answer: It doesn't exist. Just like claiming that the Earth (which is in a warming phase...just as it has done countless times before and is now coming OUT of the "Little Ice Age") is being destroyed by "man made" climate change. That doesn't exist either. It's a money scam. Plain and simple. |

Did you know that according to tree rings, the 20th century was the wettest century in that region in the last thousand years. Meaning the drought you are in right now is likely the "norm". Now did you know they are currently projecting a 15% reduction in precipitation in your region over the next 10 years? That means 15% less than what you are getting right now. Yes that's 15% less than your current drought levels. With that in mind, do you know there are predictions that Vegas could run short of water in 50 years? So you asked above if there was really global warming, why isn't anyone making extreme changes.. Well I ask you, knowing the water crisis that is happening in Vegas, has Vegas put a stop to new construction? I mean if they are going to possibly run out of water, it would make sense to not allow people to build new houses there wouldn't it? You know to try to halt population growth in order to make the water last longer.. Why do you think they have t done that? |

crockett...I live in Vegas and it's a DESERT.
It's always a drought. lol But yes, right now we are seeing the manmade Lake Mead get low. That's where our water comes from in Vegas. Again, it's MAN-MADE and has only existed since the 1930's. Without it...there would be no Las Vegas And it gets it's water from the Colorado River. With the growing population of California taking a big chunk of that water these days. And before you start up about OMG it's a drought in California...yes, it is. And there have been droughts throughout history and will be many more in the future as well as many rainy seasons. NONE of that has anything to do with "global warming" or CO2 Hell when I was a kid in the 1970's there was a hit rock song on the radio that the chorus went like this: "They say it never rains in Southern...California. Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before." Not sure if you know the song I'm talking about...but it's ALWAYS been that way. Not a lot of rain. The rivers mostly depend on the snow packs during the winter. And for the last few years, there hasn't been as much winter precipitation as the previous years. That and the exploding population with homes having grass yards and plants and trees in the middle of the desert is not a good combination. I got rid of the grass in my big front yard and went to a desert landscape. I kept a small grass yard in the back around the pool. But I have to water every single living plant, tree, and blade of grass on my property every day. If I don't...it dies. Real fast. And there are now a couple of million people living in Vegas. And yep...they are building more stuff here like crazy. If I had my way 80% of the people living here would leave. lol You're right about that part. It's INSANE that they just keep building and people just keep moving here. I don't see how it's going to be sustainable indefinitely. Again...it's the DESERT. Not meant for thousands and thousands of homes with millions and millions of plants that have to be watered every day...plus 2 million people taking showers and drinking water, etc. But caused by "man-made" global warming? Nope. And I think that any meteorologist worth his salt would be able to quickly explain to you the pressure systems in the atmosphere that have kept the rain clouds from moving over our area. Trust me. The sun still evaporates water from the oceans every minute of every day and forms rain clouds. But just like it doesn't rain in the Sahara Desert....it also doesn't rain in the Mojave desert which includes Southern California and Nevada (Vegas) For the final time: It's a DESERT |

You completely ignored the simple question I asked..
I asked "Why if they know there are water shortages to come are they still allowing new houses to be built?" Since you did everything possible to avoid the question I was asking I'll tell you what I was getting at. You seem to think that because govt's aren't doing everything possible to stop GW, that this means it's a scam. Yet in the very city you live in, you face a problem on the same scale of GW. You face having no water, yet still at this very time your city doesn't do the drastic things it needs to do in order to make the water last. (ie slow the population growth) So how does this relate to GW and the govt not doing drastic things? Well I'll tell you.. People are short sighted and don't do what they should do until it' too late. Look at smoking.. Everyone knows you get cancer if you smoke, yet many people still smoke. Everyone knows if you eat junk food every day you will get fat and have health problems, yet people eat it everyday.. Why? Because people are short sighted and 30 years down the road doesn't compute to them. Yes there are people whom do see what is 30 years down the road, but people like you call them alarmists or claim there isn't any proof. Meaning we end up with half our govt thinking God is going to save them so why worry and fixing anything. We don't live in a dictatorship Robbie where the pres can snap his figure and do what he wants. We live in a country which requires political parties to work with one another. It's kind of hard to get shit done when you have half of those people thinking they can pray to Jesus to fix their ills.. Part of our govt HAS been trying to do those drastic things you wonder why we aren't doing, however they face endless road blocks because of people like you whom no matter what evidence is produced, you close your eyes and stick your head in the sand because you know better.. This topic is clear example of you know everything and how closed minded you are.. You couldn't even watch the program I showed you, but instead just start rambling on about how much everyone else is wrong and you know everything. Even the first 10 mins went over the point I was making about the excess carbon being very bad for the ocean. But no.. it's obvious a front for big money because it shows Robbie is wrong..because Robbie can't be wrong because he knows everything.. |

Yet where is it? The biggest green energy lobbyist firm paid $400k (ironically enough more of this money went to Republicans than Democrats) The total was well under 10 million total from all green energy lobbying firms. All of it total didn't match the single largest contributor from big oil that being the Koch Bros (world renowned climate change deniers) Meanwhile the biggest oil & gas contributor was 9 million.. The oil and gas industry contributed 70 million directly to candidates. Where is this mysterious money that you go on and on about as the reason why GW is fake? Also Robbie, do you not think people whom look at your posts about denying basic science and maybe think they are insane? |

It's not all about "contributions" crockett. It's about making money.
All you have to do is look at the Solyndra deal to see cronyism at it's finest. Hundreds of millions of Federal dollars just...gone. The money went somewhere didn't it? And you know where that is? In somebody's bank account. It's not all about money coming IN to Washington as much as it is about money going OUT. Those lifetime bureaucrats hand that money out to their cronies and under the table business associates. Have you not been following the recent Clinton scandals where companies that contributed to the "Clinton Foundation" suddenly were awarded HUGE contracts from the Federal Govt. via the State Dept. under Hillary Clinton? Well, that stuff happens all the time with both Republicans and Democrats. You are naive about how the world really works. You have a good heart. But you're too busy watching the spectacle that is Oz and not noticing the little man behind the curtain. |

Why is it that 100 year old profitable businesses require more subsidies than renewable energy sources such as wind, solar , hydro? Specially being renewable energy growth is far out pacing fossil fuel growth, yet still fossil fuels get more subsidies. Do you not see the flaw in your thinking? You fall for the same illogical thoughts as Robbie. You bash renewable energy because it's subsidized, yet ignore the fact that fossil fuels get far more subsidies and is one of the most profitable industries in the world. |

They don't exist crockett. This has 100% been a PR campaign to try and convince us of man-made climate change. Not the other way around. The majority of people know this is bullshit because we all went to school as children and learned about how the Earth has frozen over and warmed up countless times throughout the billions of years. And for those of us with that easy to find knowledge...no PR campaign from a bunch of greedy fucks is going to suddenly change history for us. Especially those of us old enough to remember those groups of scientists being funded by the same groups of companies making these doomsday claims that all turned out to be 100% WRONG EVERY TIME. It's YOUR thinking that is corrupted by what you are seeing and reading by activists who are ignoring history and nature. |

Is global warming a legit concern? Sure, its worth being discussed, and looking at viable ways to be as responsible as possible. But you alarmists make it worse, and people just shut you off after awhile, which goes completely against your goal. When the loudest voices start living and acting like its real, maybe then people will take a little notice. But look at everyone who yells and makes money off this, and see how they live their lives. Jets, big cars, no solar etc etc. Their footprint is massive. And that tells me they don't believe the trash they shovel out. When things are a real threat, people act like it. This is all just a shell game to make everyone money.

"Reducing" "Greenhouse gases" is not the same as taking ACTION.
We are not being told by you and others who buy into the alarmists propaganda that this is a small problem that can be solved by "reducing" "greenhouse gases". Nope...we are being told that this is a species threatening event that will destroy the world for humans. Meanwhile...your govt., my govt., and every other govt. continues to use fossil fuels more than all of their citizens combined. Think about what I am saying to you. Do you REALLY trust people who tell you: "Do as I say, not as I do?" |

Robbie, you have still never answered this.. You say all the time that it's all about the money and some conspiracy like above where you say "buy into the alarmist".. Yet you always ignore the millions of dollars spent by the fossil fuel industry to convince you that you are right. Why is it you only care about money spent by one side but not the other side whom is spending tens of millions on denying basic science? How is it you just give a green light to one group and instantly know for 100% fact that the other side is wrong? |

That's another dumbass comment by you crockett.
Again: YOU are the one who keeps saying "Conspiracy" over and over and over. I have only used that word one time to joke with you in one of my replies above. The "Fossil fuel industry" spending millions of dollars to convince me? Of what? There have been a couple of HOLLYWOOD MOVIES (Al Gore's movie and "Gasland") trying to convince people that "fossil fuel" is "bad". How many "Fossil Fuel Industry" movies trying to "Convince" me have their been? Answer: NONE Everyday the media talks about "man-made" global warming as if it's "settled science" (their words). And then I watch the commercials on those "news" stations. Hmmmm....don't see any commercials or paid media people trying to "Convince" me to love the "Fossil Fuel Industry" there either. So there is no media out there that is trying to "Convince" me for the oil companies. They must not be spending their money very well huh crockett? The only commercials I see for oil companies are the ones competing with each other for my business. You know, the way the world works. Nope, the ONLY thing that I need to "Convince" me is that I went to school as a child and learned the history of the Earth. You could learn it too if you would just stop being a sheep. As for your very last question: "How is it you just give a green light to one group and instantly know for 100% fact that the other side is wrong?" Can you not see...that is EXACTLY what YOU are doing. The powers that be tell you what to think. And you do it. People point out that the "science" you keep crowing about has been wrong over and over. But you don't care. People point out the history of the Earth and the FACT that we are coming out of the "Little Ice Age". You don't care. People point out that the scientists you are told to believe by the powers that be are being funded by those same people to come up with the conclusions that will profit them. You don't care. You know...if you ask a crazy person, they will ALWAYS tell you that they aren't the crazy one. crockett, you are nuts. |

Once again you are saying they are spending countless dollars trying to prove something you think is fake. Considering its at govt level and policies are made by it, what you are describing is a vast conspiracy.. The world's greatest conspiracy in fact.. Yet amazing enough the only people whom don't buy into it, is the fossil fuel industry, republicans and people whom vote for them.. Meanwhile pretty much everyone else in the world is fooled by the conspiracy.. Robbie I have another question for you.. If you are so right that GW is all just a scam, why is it Republicans in congress are trying to defund scientists whom are studying climate change? If they are right, what do they have to fear? Do you realize that likely 90% of the people on this board understand that GW is real? It pretty much just you and your right wing guys whom think it's BS.. The rest of the world doesn't have this argument.. I've its just politics and the right has backed it's self into a corner and has to keep denying.. |

Hi Robbie, To me, it's taking action. Some action, anyway. Sometimes I wish it were more action, but then again things have to be done legally, and have to be done in a way to give business time to adapt, etc. Canada is a weird one though. We have good green energy policies with tax credits and whatnot, but the Alberta Tar sand operation still gets away with murder. Now that Alberta has a new leader, maybe things will change for the better there. Quote:
I think the world is in serious trouble if we do nothing at all. I think the problems can be reduced if we learn to reduce our use of fossil fuel and in fact, reducing fossil fuel use looks like it might solve all kinds of problems. Electric Cars, Solar and Wind power, better milage on gas cars, tougher pollution controls etc, are all good ideas to me. Of course they may bring other problems with them such as solar and wind killing birds, heavy metals in batteries, etc, but it is still a good start, and with advance in technology hopefully the problems can be reduced. Maybe in 10 years we'll have solar powered fully autonomous drones killing enemies with lasers instead of bombs, but for now anyway, I guess we're stuck with gas. Cheers!

And we WILL suffer for it by higher prices and lowered standards of living. OR...they will fail in this attempt. Either way, the Earth will not be destroyed. Mankind will be right here until an "extinction event" such as a meteor hitting the Earth occurs. One thing is for sure though...the people getting rich will continue to get richer. And you and I will be of no consequence whatsoever in our thoughts on this matter. |

THAT is what I have seen. Both up close and personal...and also from afar watching events in the world. |

Ok. I thought maybe you had seen something for yourself, your own eyes, that tells you that climate change isn't happening, or nothing to be concerned about, or not what it appears to be.

Did you ever think, that maybe it's real and people are doing what people do and figuring out how to make money from it? Just because people opt to make money from a problem doesn't mean it's not a real problem. It's what happens in a free market.

And then I realize that there seems to be no big hurry by any govt. on Earth to do anything to "fix" it other than figuring out ways to make money off of it. That tells me 2 things: 1. It's bullshit. OR 2. They know more than they are telling us and there is NOTHING we CAN do. So they are just cashing in because either way it won't happen in any or our lifetimes. How about you crockett? Do you ever sometimes think: "Maybe this is a money scam and thinking that mankind could actually be capable of this does sound quite far-fetched?" Everything you have said since you started up on this crusade...could easily be turned around and would be true as well. Everytime you say "right" or "Republican" and connect it to Big Oil...you could change that to "left" and "Democrat and connect it to Green Energy Corp Every time you accuse me of not listening to "science", I could point out to you that I've brought up a couple of scientists in our past conversations. But apparently ANY scientists with opposing findings is INSTANTLY nothing more than an oil company pawn. And yet...strangely enough...all the scientists that are funded by the govt. and green energy corp's are total Saints and have no ulterior motives whatsoever. In other words...everything you are saying to me, applies to you. With one exception. I have stated again and again that IF I ever see REAL action of the type that you would expect the govt. to be taking in an EMERGENCY of this magnitude...then I will become a believer. You, on the other hand...keep quoting the Green Energy funded "science" as absolute gospel and NOTHING (not Earth's history, not the fact that they have been 100% WRONG every time since the 1970's, and not even plain old common sense) will EVER change that. In your view...the Earth is a static thing that never adapts or changes (except when MAN does it). Go back to elementary school crockett. You just look foolish to me. |
