But what about some constructive criticism? If he's got it all wrong, what's the correct strategy? I see a lot of people questioning lil2rich4u2's credibility (with some justification), but I don't see many specific criticisms of his theory and I don't see much advice about *proven* strategies for launching a high-traffic TGP from scratch.

Apparently TGP traffic-trading is a very esoteric art, so wouldn't everyone benefit from some knowledge exchange? It seems to me that most people are more interested in talking politics and trading insults than they are in exchanging information which might help them to grow their businesses. Do any of you TGP gurus have something constructive to contribute? Or are you all too busy guarding your secrets from the newbs?
I agree... and to kick off a reasonable discussion, I'm in the midst if trying to figure out if a long term strategy of running a TGP is more benefitted by forcing blind links to link trades, and pissing off surfers in the process, or playing it straight, and letting the surfers click on visible link trades themselves, in the hope that they return, provide steady traffic, and eventually convert. I've flipped-flopped on this countless times, and I still haven't figured out which method is better in the long run.

Shit I read all that

I am not sure if it would work or not, I do think you would at least end up with a ok sized TGP at the end of the day and will make your money back for hosting and the traffic at least. If one can not do that they are either retarded or couldnt sell water to a dehyrdrated guy stuck in the desert with a wad of cash.

I do not think you would sell banner spaces as easily as you guessed. People want to see sustained traffic over a long period of time, not an instant burst and no history.

I also appreciate there has been no begging or plea's for cash from him. Yeah he said he was leaving and came right back, but shit who cares. I would also like to point out that he paid me money owed despite is finacial doom, and he did not even ask for extra time or sympathy for his condition. That alone puts him a lil higher on the ladder than several people I know.

Earlier in this thread you mention that networking is a must in order to build your TGP. You said you'll need to trade traffic with other big TGPs. You said other big TGPs will be interested in trading traffic with your TGP since you are listed so high in various places.

You know what? You're right. You're absolutely right.

But let me add one more rule or guideline to your newbie guide... and this one is very important. So when you're helping out other newbies, be sure to place a lot of emphasis on this guideline...

Don't burn bridges with people who have actually made it in the industry. It's one thing to disagree with them and express your disagreement, but to basically tell them to "fuck off" or the likes, is just plain stupid and immature. Do not be a cocky smart ass and think the big players will be sucking your cock simply because you have a good idea. Players will not suck your cock, they will not jump out of their skin to trade traffic, and they certainly will not deal with those that show other players disrespect. The players are in a close circle and they already have built lasting business relationships. They have no reason to try out new deals with people they know nothing about. Ask Sleazy Dream if he'll trade traffic with you, see what he says.

You have some good ideas, and you seem to finally be putting together the pieces. Good for you. But telling everyone to "fuck off"? Not smart.

You really ought to re-think your business strategy if you're going to go around insulting people who have done well in this business. Some of thse people you're screaming at like Quiet have been the friendliest to newbies.

At first I liked the way you were asking for tips, but now you're just going around shooting your mouth off to everyone and coming off like an immature jackass.

If you're desperate for money then wasting your time rabble rousing isn't what you should be doing. You should be working instead of starting fights.

Build submit, build submit, build submit. There's the formula for success.

I wished to God some of these people had helped me when I was starting out. Consider yourself lucky, take their advice and run with it. Thats the smart thing to do.

first one of your posts in a long time i dont feel like cursing you out, lol

i completely agree and your 100% correct.

However, seeing my personal situation however it may have gotten this way ... quiet, sleazy, boneprone, PK, Choker, YOU .... any of these people would be great to network with, ALL of these people (except maybe PK?) have written me off.

I have nothing to gain or lose by telling quiet to FUCK OFF when he treats me like complete shit .... no he doesnt need to respect, and i dont ask him to but when he goes out of his way to pop into a thread just to make some stupid ass post and put me down or laugh at me, then yea ill tell him again to FUCK OFF regardless if he owns network of sites or whatever he does.

Choker as much as he is hated, has my complete respect ... yes i hate his cocky attitude, but you know what? He earned it!
Choker took an idea everyone knocks and made a fortune with it, he is now the center of the universe in TGP world ..... BUT if he were to be in here talkin out of his ass to me, you better beleive he would get the same "FUCK OFF" posts everyone else does.

Ok now im just rambling, im in midst of working on something so im going to get back to it.

Later

See, now, this is the part I don't quite understand. For some reason you're convinced that I'm an asshole and have never helped you or anyone else. That really, really gets under my skin. It shouldn't, but it does.

I have gone out of my way to offer you advice. Just the other day I created a whole thread, spent 20 minutes of my time typing up some post to help you out. Yes, it was brash, but it was also full of good information. You turned around and spit in my face. Why in the hell should I ever give you any advice or ever waste any more of my time on you. Several people hit me on ICQ saying thanks for the information, and several others said I was crazy for trying to help you out because you'll never appreciate it.

Every fucking day I help people out with their sites. I set my personal projects aside and help people out with text, layout, HTML, or whatever else they need help with... and 95% of the time they aren't even pushing Ep*c Cash. I don't make a fucking dime from it. Sometimes I wonder why I do it, I usually get no appreciation out of it and the person I'm helping just walks away and forgets everything. But occasionally, occasionally... someone will say "hey, thanks for your help, I appreciate it". Guess that's why I keep doing it...

I just spent 10 minutes reading through the thread looking for a post where you insulted me, called me a fag, a loser, faliure ...

truth is i didnt find any.

I apologize man, i know you have helped me and i remember via ICQ (i saved logs too)

Im just very edgy lately mainly do to my own faliures. I had certain goals set for myself that i didnt meet.

Multiplied by how others treat me on here, i guess i just jump on everyone in my path.

Sorry man ... didnt mean to jump on you ass for trying to point out some obvious points, and didnt mean to make you feel unapreciated.

here's my idea

buy a good hit bot, buy some scam domains, and sign up for a bunch of trades and then put your sponsor banner on top of the page

then buy a bunch of scam domains and auto submit galleries from there using stolen content, and then redirect the traffic via server script or by htaccess to offshore clicks or something...

in no time you'll have the cat by the tail....

except I don't have the money, can y'all send me some traffic or free domains or something so I can do it?

they didn't build their business by pissing the surfer off.

Those players were there at the beginning when the market was *much* less crowded. How many 100K+/day TGPs can you name launched in the last two-years that don't use blind links?

Wait I got this other idea

Make this huge ass webmaster bbs

let webmasters post all the stuff they want, they can bullshit and everything

the more they post the more important people think they are

and the more you post, the more your post total goes up, and then I put a little dollar sign ($) beside the post total number so that it looks like that's how much money you make

Pretty soon everyone will want to post there

I thought only those with proven money making formulas can truly help others? I think the only advice lil2rich can give is for everyone to do the exact OPPOSITE of what he does

I must be a dope as I thought this could work. The cool thing is if you did a quality TGP, you could become self sustaining. Do a shitty TGP and watch the traffic drain away once the choker hits are done.
Do it with all hosted galleries and let that pay for the choker hits and keep a constant inflow to trade with?

wow

I did mention adding hoted galleries, but mostly for the reason of not having to check galleries and/or worry about cheaters ..... this idea however add's new possible profits and sounds much better!

Build a niche TGP, add 20+ trades, buy 200k choker traffic ...

Work on maintaining high trade avg while at the same time allowing the non-skimmed hits possibly buy something ...

sheesh, so simple and its a strategy i use currently .... amazing that i didnt think of it when writing this. .. good deal.

Thanks man.

too much work?

Theres nothing to this plan (assuming it would work)

What part of it would be time consuming?

I don't get it!?!

The bandwidth charges on this level of traffic could be in the range of $10K us for the 1000's of gigs of bandwidth used.

So $1,000 - $2,000/month doesn't add up to profit?!

So??

Where is the money to be made. WHo in their right mind would host this considering bandwidth is a traded commodity and costs at least a certain amount?

If anyone has answers, please let me know.

I send my wife out to work to pay my bandwidth bill.

TGP is a conspiricy to decrease the sales ratios of major porn pay sites.

I don't know where you're buying bandwidth, but 1000 gig costs me $450. If you can't make $450 off of 1000 gig of throughput, then I'd definitely recommend finding a new line of work.

hmmm

At first i was gonna ask wtf you were smoking, then i did some math. Say my TGP page ways 100kb (avg with no content)

10 hits = 1mb
100 hits = 10mb
1000 hits = 1gig
100,000 hits = 100gig
1,000,000 hits = 1000gig

Assuming that math is right, Lets say we hit 300k a day. That would be 9 mil per month

Lets say we are being charged $0.59 per gig, at that rate we are looking at a monthly fee of roughly $5,310

Is this correct guys?

If it is, then my idea goes completely out the window (for me anyhow) unless you can cover that expense on advertising and signups and stuff.

Another thing im unsure of, do scripts take more bandwidth to use?

Even on a minimal level this can seriously increase bandwidth and in turn possibly get us up near that $10k per month range.

Yeah - but that "traffic" is mostly people that are pissed off because someone redirected them - the lowest of the low "quality" traffic.

One of these days when it all thins out - the only ones of those thumb-TGPs left are going to be the one run like HUN, PK etc. - Clean and with respect to the surfers. Shemp's ShempLand is a good example - HotSexSeries.com also does it pretty well even with their trade links.

Dude, no offense, but you've got a bit to learn about websites... "scripts" as you call them, are, I'm assuming, what you're calling server-side scripts. A server-side script, by definition, is executed ON THE SERVER before the page is sent to the browser. A server-side script builds the page (or does whatever you want it to do), completes, THEN the page is sent to the browser. Also, you don't have to just use "scripts", you can also use out-of-oricess executables on the server. It's better to run a compiled (dll if on W2K), but you don't have to just use "scripts" per se. Hell, you can be running Oracle and have the whole page built with stored procs.

right ... i knew they were serverside, just didnt hit me the right way, i guess a script would be using processing and not bandwidth.

besides, after all that goofy math above, wouldnt you be a bit woozy?!? LOL!!!!

First off, I gotta say that in a message board that's 99% bullshit, I appreciate real discussion.

And, I think that you're on the right track... that's what I've been leaning towards (and what I'm doing now). The tough part is that unless you get at least 75% of surfers returning, ever a 125% link trade still results in a net loss, so if you go this way, you have to have a quality site. As far as thinning out, I think that it's happening already. The get rich quick kids are quickly dropping out since they spend a lot of money, hoping for a 300% return on their money, and of course, they don't get it. But long term is where the payout is. I *know* that the real big sites (Hun, PK, RR, etc.) have the inertia so that they relaly don't ever have to work again. That's what I'm looking for. Maybe I'll keep being nice to surfers.

but all that said and done, is my math correct?

Running a 300k/day TGP is going to look like $5k+ at $0.59 per gig?

I've got some cra-zay "scripts" running my site. I just got a fat new server to run 'em on... they don't effect my bandwidth, but they make my server sweat. My DB keeps my RAM maxxed out. With a gig of RAM (256 now), my DB is gonna be able to cache *everything*. That's fucking sweet.
