Why are .xxx domains so expensive?

Oh because it's adult. That means no industry representation at a premium price with XXX. You know, pay more for processing because adult, 2nd rate hosting, can't advertise, ok to steal. Welcome to adult.

Exactly...in business as in life, everyone gets fucked to the absolute maximum possible without killing them.

Just give them enough so they can survive but squeeze them for every dime you can possibly get.

That is why.

Hey man, I am not agreeing with it at all - I don't!

Just telling it the way it is...

I get the "adult premium" part, but 9 x the value of a Dotcom?

Your reality sucks. I'd be dead by now if I had your mind. Why you hanging on?

it's a shakedown.

If you own a decent adult .com you're gonna buy the xxx to protect your brand.

The initial registration cost of .xxx is high, however if you create a valuable web property on that domain then the registration fees should become fairly insignificant.

From the ICM Registry position, they're making as much money as they can out of the extensions, it's obviously set at a price some of the market will bear.

From the Registrant's position, it's just another business cost, if you're making money then it's a tax deductible expense so in the end, the cost of registration in real terms is offset by that tax deductibility.

To remind people like you what's real and what is not.

And just to be a giant pain in everyone's ass for as long as possible!

Sort of like herpes or any of the Kardashians...

i look at it like this: a .com is $10, .xxx is $100 (or near that figure).
so it's a scam. And a very bad investment. You place your site in the porn ghetto with property that's 10 times the norm. Makes it easier for SE's to filter out porn, which they all do.
Plus your costs as a business rise like a motherfucker.
100 .coms equal $1000, 100 .xxxs equal $10,000.

All in all a bad investment.
