Problem with Chrome

I have been having problems with Chrome (and to a lesser extent firefox) for the last 5 days.
I thought it was a virus so I ran malwarebytes, avast, and kaspersky. I uninstalled and reinstalled chrome.
I go to sites and its like they are not there.
Frequently, the message is:

This webpage is not available

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Assuming you use windoze ...

Open a command prompt [COMMAND <= find programs] and check your DNS Server (see if it is caused by the browser, system or your ISP's [or other] DNS):

i used to have issues with chrome i reset settings to defaults and everything was fine
