By the way, I haven't heard about "giving sin". What that even means? In our Bible it is more like freedom of choice. Abuse it and well.. you know the end result.

Maybe Merica has different edition.

from Christianity comes Alcoholics Anonymous-

A twelve-step program in which members admit that they are powerless over alcohol and need help; members seek guidance and strength through prayer and meditation from God or a Higher Power of their own understanding.

Christianity says we are all born sinners, we inherited it from Adam and Eve's 'original sin'. God gave them free will and they blew it bigtime. God's been punishing us ever since. The only way to redeem ourselves is through Jesus Christ.

So God didn't give us sin, it is just a result from us fucking it up. Well.. Adam and Even fucking it up.

But in our edition Jesus made already OK. So no stress, it is already forgiven.

Yes, it's such a great way to exchange one crutch for another. If you ever notice ex alcoholics always make the most extreme Christans.. Extreme I mean as in over board into it not as in cutting off heads or anything..

They just exchange the bottle addiction for the bible addiction..

the term "tolerant liberal" is as silly as it gets. i don't claim to be tolerant, but at least i'm not a hypocrite about it.

there are people like me who aren't religious and then there are atheists who have their own religion of bashing others because of their own beliefs yet showing complete approval of religions who would love to kill them and who are the biggest religious bigots of any group yet they go unscathed unlike christians and catholics.

its the most successful approach to treating addiction ever, particularly alcoholism and is in every country on the planet,... and no, religion does not play a key role in terms of the person who is seeking help. It was started by a guy who was religious, there are 12 steps basically because of the 12 apostles and so on, but it has nothing to do with religion, nor is it a crutch.

Look, you need to cling to your preconceived ideas and views, that doesn't make me mad, you're the one categorically labeling aa people as negative bible thumpers. I actually find your post funny because anyone whose ever actually been around aa and aaers know how completely wrong you are. Ie, you're just making shot up to prop up your view that religion and belief in god are entirely bad.

The simple fact is, and the reason I pointed out aa in this thread is that there has been a lot of good that has come from people's belief and faith in a god\religion. I know you are not ready to hear that, nevertheless, it's true.

The greatest trick ever pulled was convincing the the masses that God exists. That statement comes from a born Christian who stopped drinking the Christian Kool aid BS.

Also missed was.

I'm going to pick this insignificant tribe of goat herders as my chosen people. Instead of the more powerful Empires who will kick the Jews around for the next 6,000 years.

And when I send my son to die on a cross, to save the world from itself. He also will go to an insignificant outposts in the Roman Empire. Die before he gets anything meaningful done, fails to convert my chosen people, who will play second string to the Muslims.

Until America storms to the rescue.

Any god with that CV, isn't very clever.

Early civilisations needed religion, didn't matter which one so long as the rulers had the ultimate carrot and stick tool.

Do as your told, don't step out of line and god will love you. All you need to do is listen to me, so I can pass on his rules.

I'm not going to debate the big book with you, although I very well could.

And thats because my point was good things have come from Christianity. Aa is simply a good, solid, accurate, modern day example of that.

They already believed it. Well, that some god exists. Christianity just stepped in and said "our god is better" (and that Jesus was a Messiah).

Many of you guys have no idea what religion is, why there are religions/ beliefs, etc. Religion is essentially just a standardized belief that includes some higher power. Religions didn't invent beliefs, they just standardize some.
