Windows 10 may share you WiFi password with your friends

Windows 10 will share your WiFi password with your 1500 friends on Facebook as a convenience to you.
It also will be shared with your contacts on Skype, hotmail and Outlook.

Good luck with that.

I love this quote from the article :

"... the feature doesn't share an actual password, but rather an encrypted version of it."

There's a link during the install process that is very small that takes you to a page where you can disable all this spyware shit. This crap should all be off by default, but it's the other way around.

You'll be fine, until one of those contacts downloads CP on your wifi.

Circumventing password protection has got to be the dumbest idea a programmer ever thought up.

I'm sure they considered it just like they considered security leaks, viruses and hacking in their browser.

l4m3 idea. Microcrap assumes that your 'facebook' friends would do no evil with your IP.

Well, you could be stupid enough to just give them the password. What's next? Share your internet bank login with your skype buddies?

Someone at Microcrap was sniffing glue (legacy bath salts) when they thought this up.

First they hook up facebook, then they hook up paypal, then they hook up bank account, then a virus hooks them all together for hacker.

I thought "disable disable disable" was standard operating procedure for everyone upgrading a Win OS. Began with me back in my 95 to 98 upgrade. Disabling and deleting those "themes" was the first thing, disabling every prechecked feature in Startup was next. Every version since then has had a bucket of stupid features that needed disabling, and with the exception of Vista being a resource hog nearly all of them were solveable.

Why should Windows 10 be any different?

Once all the needless/useless crap is disabled the only pertinent question is "is it a good operating system worth upgrading to?" Opinions vary of course but much of the early reviews I've seen have been favorable. "It's fast", "Not a resource hog" etc. I'm leaning towards getting it.

I went into my setting to make sure this wifi thing was turned off, I was not able to find it on any of my desktop computers using wired connections. so just to "see" I pulled out my laptop and there it was...so this is only on if you use a Wi-Fi connection, its not on, nor are the settings available if using a wired connection. to turn it off was a simple click..not a big deal for those tin hat wearers out there.

That simple click required you to read this thread after I had to read a news article and you still didn't find the shit on one computer.

So yeah, everyone will turn this off for sure.

HMMM actually seems crazy to me, some people use the same passwords across their entire web presence. It is like sending an EX a free password to test for your emails.

I am normally not a tin foil hat wearer, and I am 100% Windows. But this seems absolutely retarded.

Not to mention most of the time on installs people can't be bothered to read and just click "next next next". I really can't believe this passed the sniff test at Microsoft. Extra feature OK. Base features? WTF.

This is a super odd feature. I am having a hard time finding out why you would want to do it? My password is on a little card by the router for parties and stuff. I don't really care but why would you broadcast it to a huge list?

Why would they think this a good idea?

This is about as dumb as the people who name their networks with an obvious name like "the Johnson Family Network. Please come in".

If everyone in your apartment building befriends you on facebook, then you're the only one in the building who pays for an internet connection.

actually I read several articles on it, most say its not a big deal, only a few tried to get people wrapped up into some kind of "sky is falling thing"
