At this point in time, it?s a lot more interesting and matters a whole lot more than Trumpmania.

It's amazing how little attention the Federal Election coverage appears to be getting here. And it's definitely an important election. It's equally amazing to me how much attention Trump is getting on both sides of the border.

He doesn't need to follow politics in Canada at all. He already knows he hates the current Prime Minister and all Conservatives and that he will vote for whoever sprinkles the most most pixie dust around offering to cure all of the world's ills by ridding the planet of CO2, subsidizing "green" energy and putting an electric car in the driveway of every soon to be impoverished citizen. So he will be voting Green Party or NDP - the former with no chance of winning and the latter run by union thugs and loony leftists.

Not sure where you are looking. CBC is covering it in detail. Plus the newspapers in Alberta are keeping at least a couple of campaign stories on front page daily.

I'm talking about public awareness, discussions, etc. In terms of online papers, such as the CBC site, the comment section on the articles (we're in Nova Scotia) makes it apparent that several people don't even take the time to review the platforms of the party or candidates they either support or don't support. The focus for these people being limited to soundbytes is alarming and sad.

As for the media itself, there's some coverage, certainly. The National is probably the best source and best coverage we have right now each night.

5 things the election campaign taught Canada this week:

1. That all the party leaders are hot air self serving windbags.
2. That all the party leaders are hot air self serving windbags.

Admit it, you just don't vote because it gives you an excuse to complain no matter who gets elected until the next election.

do something instead. complaining solves nothing.

Someone had asked me who I am voting for. I said in short, "whoever I feel will do the least amount of damage".

Dynamo, stop syber-stalking me, stop obsessing about me, stop dreaming about me when you jerk off. You're making me nervous.

And since you asked....

... Canadian politics are so boring! You have to admit that American politics is the best show on TV these days.

But since you ask:

Steven Harper is a conservative running again. I won't be voting for him.

Then there's Justin Treadeau, a Liberal. If he's anything like his Dad, he might be good for Canada. Harper's Conservatives are already launching republican-style bullshit ads against him so in my head that makes him even more interesting.

Then there's Gille Duceppe from the Bloc Quebecois. No, No, no no no no no. So many reasons no.

I'm leaning towards Thomas Mulcair (NDP and Elizabeth May (Green Party), and -

Hello? Hello? Wake up you sons of bitches! I .. i ... ZZzzzzzzz..

Agreed, at least go at the voting station and cancel your vote. Anyone that doesn't vote can't say shit afterwards.

The NDP platform is to raise immigration levels and even allow the immediate family of temporary foreign workers into the country. Considering what is going on with housing and especially low end rentals in major cities this is beyond a clusterfuck.

I'm beginning to think Mr. Trudeau is going to win, in fact I would say that the election is his to lose.

Of course they can. If I'm confronted by 2 assholes at night, one wants to punch me in the face, the other wants to kick me in the nuts, and I decline to 'choose' which one I'll get, I can't complain about it afterwards? Fuck that noise... that's some line trotted out by some idiot once upon a time, and somehow has become some kind of 'truth'

As a fellow Canadian, I am still somewhat confused as to why the overwhelming hate for the PC'S. Sure, there are some things I disagree with...but overall could the other parties have done any better?

The biggest issue as I see it is how an entire generation has become disenfranchised during Mr. Harper's office, and he has turned a blind eye.

The idea that you can own a home, or pay for or even find child care is now something that belongs only to the very privileged now in Canada. Especially in the cities.

His promise that you can borrow $10k more from your TFSA towards a home is almost petulant, it's a sort of "let them eat cake" statement. He appears to be wildly out of touch with what has happened and what his constituents face on a daily basis.

Now most of this doesn't affect me at all personally, but the changes around me are so evident that it's impossible not to notice.

And way after the economic concerns come all of the other stuff like free speech and what not.

So you can't vote for Harper, he has had more than enough time to make a difference and things are much worse. You can't vote for the NDP because their policies are clueless (create more childcare but then allow more immigration to compete for the resources etc. etc.), so that leaves the Liberals. And I gather that all Justin Trudeau has to do at this point is keep his mouth shut and he will probably win.

Hopefully you are wrong. To paraphrase the PC ads (although this was evident before the ads aired) Justin is just not ready. Personally don't think he ever will be. He is not his father. ..and I say that as a westerner where we despised his father.
