Assuming OP you have a real idea here, according to you you need 10 to 15k extra to make it happen. Hell, if you save only 1k per month you'll be there in a year give or take. If it's a viable idea now it will still be so a year from now.

Work your ass off, cut back on spending in any way you can and pretty soon you'll be able to afford to launch yourself, without having to give up a share of profits to anyone else

About 3 years ago I decided to save up for an expensive international move and start a new business (in hind-site not a wise choice to initiate both simultaneously but live and learn). I took 8 days off in 2 years, saved every dollar I could, lived like a monk to cut down on spending and ended up with the cash to pull off both with extra to spare that turned out to be vital.

It's really difficult to create and grow a thriving business if you're cash-poor. I'd argue additionally that being a business owner you need to prepare for times when costs exceed income, shit happens and you need a float and the ability to live cheap to get through the initial ups and downs. Knowing how to budget and cut things down to the wire to push through is a wicked skill to have, for everyone really but for entrepreneurs it's vital.

Doubt you'll find anyone here though, would you give 5k to an anon handle on the internet with no plan or even vague idea of what said plan entails?

You can make it happen for $10,000.

BUT, you'd bring on a 3rd investor for an additional $5,000 that will cost you $18,000 (12 x $1,500) every year.

You are making a big mistake doing it like this.

Basically, you are borrowing money at a huge interest rate of 30%, and thats just after a single month. That's insane.

If you really need the money, try any of these ideas instead, in order.

#1. Ask your bank. $5000 is a pretty small loan and pretty low risk for any bank. If you have credit cards that you owe money on, tell the bank the truth and consider borrow more to pay those cards down. This is usually known as a debt consolidation loan, and it works because it let you pay off the cards, save your credit rating, and reduce your costs.

#2. IF you don't want to ask the bank, borrow from your credit card, but don't do a cash advance. Cash advances are very expensive, usually around 21% interest. Instead, call your credit card company and ask them for a credit transfer instead. It's almost the same thing as a cash advance, but the cost is sometimes very low. MBNA and RBC currently offer them at only 1% for 18 months.

#3. IF you don't have a credit card, get one. Lots of credit card companies make it super easy to get a card. The higher the interest rate and more fees they charge, the easier it is to get one.

Going with option 3 sucks because its really expensive, but its much cheaper than doing your 30% loan thingie. Try any of the other options instead and save yourself a small fortune.
