I can't stop watching the Mad Max Fury Road blu-ray!

it's the most incredible blu-ray i've ever watched, by far.

and not just the movie part, the bts extras are also fantastic. they go in-depth on the design and building of most all the cars, they are all real deal, motors and everything. and another segment is all about how they filmed on Fury road. it's terrific movie making.

highly recommended.

I have seen it at least 10 times already including twice at the theater. Does the blu ray have the black & white version on it? I'm not watching it again until I see that version. George Romero says it's the way the film should be seen. black & white with no dialogue... only the soundtrack.

It does not have the B&w version. Ive read they plan to do a special release of that later this year. I'm looking forward to it also but can't yet see how it can be better than the color version, its surreal at 1080p!

I know. My favorite scene is the big storm in the beginning because of the wild flashes of red and white. That scene goes from almost black&white to having flashes of really intense color which is so awesome but not sure how it will translate to total black&white.

The trailer gave impression about dumb Hollywood movie in nitros (the dumb stuff), so I haven't even watched that. But I guess if I want to see shitloads of gasoline explosions and dumb stunts, I am all for it.

I like the first three Mad Maxes.

i think you're gonna dig it. it's the ultimate car chase movie film. it doesn't try to be anything more than that but wow, it does that so fucking good. the attention to detail and realism in it all, based on the bts stuff, is impressive.

the cars man, wow! the cars.

I watched it again in IMAX 3d recently. This time, the score jumped out at me as being the standout element of the film. Just amazing cinematic music. Anyone who can't see all the love that went into making this film --- I'd tell them they should stop watching movies and stick their head all the way up their ass. But it's already up there.

3:25 is perfect

I really wish I enjoyed it as much as you did. I would love to watch the BTS, however if the BTS is accompanied by the movie on the disc then they can

I am a huge fan of the original Mad Max and this was total and utter disappoinment.

I'm going to watch this in a few minutes. Will report back.

Was not real impressed with the trailers but the reviews you guys are giving makes it seem at least worthy of a view.

Great movie. My favourite so far this year. Also watched Jurassic World the other day. Nothing special but better than I was expecting it to be. Probably not worth the price of a theater ticket though.

The cars I have really enjoyed, have been to see them when they were in Sydney. I've always loved that part of the movie, know a bloke who helped build the cars.

The movie *for me* was so bad, I went with a mate to watch it, as we were walking out, I didn't say anything, just waited to see what he would say. The first words were *fuck that was a load of shit*

He's a massive car guy too - we both said as you did, the cars were great (especially knowing that everything worked ie twin engines / blowers blah blah), however the movie was just one long action scene of CGI overload. They tried so hard to put so much in it that they just forgot to actually put in a plot (again IMO).

The original was great, you got to know Max, his family and then started to feel his pain and were rooting for him to seek revenge on the bikers.

Like I said, I wish I felt the same way about this movie, I was extremely excited about it and it took so many years, almost didn't come to fruition and then this

Anyways the BTS sound really good, did some reading and sounds like it is better than the movie itself.

The car stuff was practical...except for the fire tornado of course. Where was the one long scene of CGI overload?

Why does a movie need some complicated plot to be interesting? There was a very definitive narrative, albeit a simple and straightforward one. This movie can have the sound turned all the way down and anyone could follow it. That's not a bad thing when it comes to something designed to be a visual medium.

Full Metal Jacket has less of a plot than Fury Road, but it's regarded as one of the great movies of all time. Same with Apocalypse Now and many other "classics". Saying something doesn't have enough story is weak criticism.

i don't disagree the movie has some flaws, sure. the one scene with furioso is painful to watch, you know which one i'm referring to. and sure it's not an Inception or Interstellar plot-based movie, but let's not forget, both those films have their fair share of flaws. so sure, Mad Max is basically driving Fury Road and back, but that's exactly where its charm lies.

I just finished.

The visuals were cool.

The audio drove me nuts. I don't like when the voices are not integrated more. I don't know enough about movies to know what the term might be, but they basically sat on top of all other sounds as a separate layer. I had to adjust the volume on my TV multiple times between explosions being too loud and voices being too soft.

The cheese ball factor was a bit much for me. Dude with a flame throwing guitar strapped to the front of a car? LOL. Too much.

You do realise that 99% of the scenes are for the most part CGI?

I am not talking about a complicated plot, how about a reason to want to give a flying shit about the characters or where the story was going?

I disagree, in Full Metal Jacket you get to know the characters and the same with Apocalypse Now, their struggles and feel sad and even happy with people die (Gunnery Sargeant shot by Pvt Pyle). I remember the first time I watched both of those movies and thoroughly enjoyed it then and still do now. Fury is not in the same league.

Yeah, I will definitely watch the BTS now, the originals did definitely have flaws, however this was just completely over the top.

Ah well, i'll try the BTS stuff and see how that goes

I was rooting for Max through the entire film. The scenes with the buzzard cars with him on the front of nuxs car? Wow. The opening scene? Totally. A bunch of other times too. I was rooting for furioso several times, I thought her fight scenes were very good and I even found myself rooting for her over max on those.

A movie doesn't need a complicated plot to be good, it needs an interesting and smart plot to be good, none of which this film has.

Personally I find car chases boring in movies. So one long car chase is not my idea of a good movie.

For you to say FMJ and AN don't have plots just goes to show you wouldn't know what a good movie was if it slapped you across the face.

There's your problem right there. You think Inception and Interstellar are some kind of mind-blowing, deep and complex stories, when in reality they are nothing but pseudo-intellectual drivel for the average moviegoer.
It's no wonder you loved this crap film.

Since movies ARE stories that is the most important criticism. Unless of course you just watch movies to stare up at the pretty colors and do as little thinking as possible.

I figured you to be a coward closet homo. That's why you're so fucking needy to point your fuckwad finger at someone because they enjoyed a fucking movie.

Hey man I'm as much entitled to my opinion as you are. And my opinion is that movie sucked and if you liked it, well, I feel sorry for you. Sorry.

Yes I'm a movie snob/elitist. I want the movie industry to start making good shit again and stop catering to braindead zombies like you.

Not every fucking movie is gonna star meryl streep. And that has nothing to do with you being a major fucking party foul. I mean wow how much not fun are you? A lot.

And heads-up, party foul, I never exclaimed inception and interstellar were works of art, in fact what I claimed is that they have their fucking share of flaws in spite of being plotbased films.

Fuckwad.

Yup, that's how I am with most movies too. Any kind of movie could catch my eye or not. these days with the hassle of going to a movie, I've got to be pretty excited about it.

We have a local guy that built a replica of the first Mad Max car - right down to the blower unit. Takes it around to a few local car shows each summer. I've got pics of it somewhere, draws a crowd everywhere he goes.
