Anyone colo anymore?
A hosting client just hit me up asking for help to push their colo business. wtf? do people even do that anymore?
I thought everyone lived in "The Cloud" nowadays but I've read some articles that colo is hanging around... How many of y'all still have colocated servers?

Everything I have is colo. I'm down to 3 physical servers. Hard to beat $40/mo per box for a gig pipe. Granted there's the up front hardware cost but it's still worth it long term.
What I have going on would be prohibitively expensive on cloud.

Nah. There are still plenty of people who colo or are looking for it.
The key with web hosting is to get in with a group or niche and just try and work referrals from there. That will be considerably more productive than trying to solicit the unknown masses who penny pinch and make it unprofitable. |
