Mark Hamill in Star Wars VII for about 15 seconds. False and illegal advertising?

Top Billing: Star Wars VII starring: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher.

Mark Hamill, was in the film about 15 seconds and didn't say one word.

Isn't that clearly false advertising and illegal? Can a motion picture say "Starring Al Pacino" and have him appear at the end for 15 seconds? If a movie came out like that, wouldn't there be an uproar?

When I purchased my $ 19 Imax ticket, the poster and advertising told me that I would be seeing a motion picture starring the 3 top stars of Star Wars.

Why isn't Disney held legally accountable for false advertising and fraud?

I didn't pay for 15 seconds of an advertised leading character that didn't even speak.

It's an outrage. This is MORE than a classic bait and switch. This is outright fraud.

I know this might sound nuts, but I'm going to contact a lawyer and get a real legal opinion. I personally think this is fraud on a grand scale.

Actually... You Did....

Try it with the lawsuit anyway - Would be a huge payout if upheld

If they were in the film AT ALL then the claim was valid and you do NOT have a case.

Sorry, although it might have been implied from the 2 minute trailer than the original cast would been a main part of the movie but it is common sense to understand that trailers are ONLY highlights of the film and do not represent any sort of quantitative indicator of the time an actor will appear in the entire movie.

You would not find a lawyer to take such a clearly unfounded case.

Interesting, but I ask you this:

If a new movie is released starring Gene Hackman and Jenifer Lawrence. You and 100's of thousands of others purchased a ticket, sat down and watched the movie and Jenifer Lawrence wasn't in the movie until the very last 15 seconds without speaking. Honestly, would you feel ripped off?

That is exactly what has happened here with Hamill and Star Wars.

I don't think there is any legal precedent for the requirement of time duration in a film to qualify the term "starring" however, common sense dictates that a starring role in a film requires the utmost minimum of being visibly seen in the film for at least 1 minute? (I would think much longer)

I think it would make an interesting and very substantial lawsuit. I think a rebate is in order to the mass public that purchased tickets. 1/3 rebate in my opinion.

When a film is bringing in $228,000,000 in 3 days on false advertising, Disney must be held accountable.

Lets guess the Lawyers answer...

Yes, you may well have a case indeed - Very unfair... Now, if you give me shit loads of money I can begin to pursue it for you - But - No guarantees though - Bit like Star Wars...

I presented it as a pro bono case. I would never put my own money into a class action suit like this. I think rebates are in order, and punitive damages paid to a charity.

It will send a clear message to Hollywood studios. They can make crap films, but they can't lie about who is starring in the film.

I think 5% to 10% of the film's run time is not an unreasonable amount of the time a starring role should appear on screen, to qualify for the term "starring" and allow the studio to advertise the actor as such. In this case, Hamill would've had to been in the film 7 to 14 minutes of the 136 minute run time. Very reasonable. Not 15 seconds. That is unreasonable and advertising his role as "starring" is clearly fraudulent.

He looked fucking good. Got paid $1m for 12 sec of cast, and he's gonna be in next movies.

I'd say winning.

Too bad about Han, killed off an awesome charachter for no fucking apparent reason. He would have been cool to have in next movies.

Yeah you can get a lawyer and sue and they will probably settle out of court and give you your 19 bucks back. If you have the time to waste and energy to fight for what you feel is right, go for it but all that will happen is you getting 19 bucks or a free ticket.
That is what is called winning

Where do these dumb fake nicks come from this is the second Star Wars related topic of this nature from a nick with no posts. Is the movie industry or some group having a bunch of marketing tools run around the net trying to stir up shit?

The other post was that one with the 20 something bullet points about Star Wars being a episode V rip. It was also a long winded posting from a new/fake nick..

These aren't the types of postings than a random person would make as their first posts to an adult board..

The problem is the original cast is so old.....

The only one who had a chance was Han Solo; He could pull off a grumpy space smuggler. I know they can make Jedi Nights so that they can kick ass at any age, but Luke Skywalker just looks old. And the Princess there has just lost all appeal - she no longer remotely interesting.

One of the reasons Mark Hanill didn't play a big role, is because he's very insecure of himself on the big screens, he has said this himself. He has avoided starring in movies since the original Star Wars series and has just done a shit load of voice acting and small appearances in TV shows. They had a hard time getting him to agree to do the new series.

I think the fact that the first trailer for the new movie, you could hear Luke saying a few lines "the force is strong in my family.....i have it....... etc. But yet he never said any of that in the actual movie. I did find it a little strange... Oh well i'll get over it eventually.

Anyone notice how Carrie Fisher has had SO much plastic surgery that she can barely move her lips, let alone show any real emotions on her marble statue face? Good job reacting to Han's death Carrie. How many takes did it take for you to crack that frown? Pathetic.

ALL these aging Baby Boomers who have tons of plastic surgery to try and look 30 at 60 just look like zombie freaks to me. Shudder.

Yes...that would be the target market for this film.

Aging boomers desperate to deny their mortality and regain their youth when they first saw the film.

Why so much hate? Do you feel cheated somehow? Seriously, accept some facts: People age, and everyone, celebs included, do what they can to look as healthy and as vibrant as possible to compete for attention, affection and in business. 30 years ago, facelifts were scandalous, maybe but today its everywhere. If you can't get over the idea that your favourite stars have gone under the knife just to compete for the chance to tell you a story and bring you a little happiness for an hour or 2, then you probably shouldn't watch any more movies or TV.

That must be a serious mental issue. I mean I can imagine many people who would be insecure to appear on film. However it is impossible to imagine one that appears on TV series to be insecure about appearing on cinema screens. It actually makes no sense, it is not like he has some pimple which can not be seen on TV, but can be seen on big screen
This is just crazy mental issue, one of the weirdest I ever heard of. If that is true.. LOL
Especially if that cost him millions, that is out of space crazy and absolutely unimaginable.

If you can't get over the idea that your favourite stars have gone under the knife just to compete for the chance to tell you a story and bring you a little happiness for an hour or 2, then you probably shouldn't watch any more movies or TV.
I don't watch movies or tv much anymore. There's a new Jane Fonda movie out and she looks so hideous I thought it was a monster flick.

Why so much hate? A better question: why should I endorse or condone a system or society that glamourizes youth to the point where it's most accomplished citizens and artists feel that they cannot "be themselves" but rather must adhere to some idealized fantasy of forever youth. Hmmmm?

YOU may like looking at statues attempting to 'act' and appear lifelike but I do not. Why so much hate? How about the product sucks because the ingredients went stale long ago? Am I allowed to complain if this were a loaf of bread? All better questions (and points) than yours.

(I can FEEL the power of the Dark Side in me now!)

Yeah God forbid you expose the real problem we are having in this world right now by uttering the phrase "Baby Boomers" and suddenly all the old fart's LSD-addled minds (whats left of them) explode. Kind of like the Death Star.

Ever see Sharon Stone lately? She should re-brand herself Medusa Stone.

No great loss really...he's not the fuckable hottie he once was after all!

Totally unfuckable unless you are into necrophilia

At least he's got a future in all these low budget zombie movies...all the money they can save on makeup by hiring him.

No GILF porn in the gay niche? He could even pass as MILF equivalent as well.
Be more objective
