Hey man, that's how I got started as a writer for magazines. The instant I had just one article published I would call another magazine and say I was "from" the one that just published my article. "I've got this great idea for a story..." and they would listen just because I had that already published article to show them. LOL The press are like lemmings and totally lazy so if you do their work for them by feeding them ideas - especially ones that have appeared in the NY Times - they will love you.
