For those who don't know. 2nd sleep was the norm before industrialized society. 2nd sleep probably came about because in winter it gets dark super early and people don't want to waste candles so they go to bed but you can't really sleep for 12 hours straight every night so they would wake up in the middle of the night and do something until they fell asleep again. Hence 2nd sleep. It's not really that common now that we have heating and electric lights so we just go to bed much later.

awesome post! See if that was in this guys 1st post we would've understood this thread.

I assumed it was talking about napping. I use to do that. Work long hours to only get 2-3hrs sleep then a 4 hour nap after I finished the 2 day project. It's really hard on your body but it's needed from time to time

Regarding the second sleep, just power naps. Did you know that it's best that you have a cup of coffee before taking a 20-minute nap. Then when you wake up, the coffee will start 'working'.
I read this somewhere also... I live in front of the computer. It's not like someone told me.
I think that naps are ok. If you are staring at the monitors and you feel like you really need a nap, plus you need to work another 3 hours, why not take a nap.

Maybe even much earlier in our development. They tend the fire check the perimeter check the traps look for enemies check the family and go back to sleep for a few hours
