2015 was the warmest year on record.

Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet: Analyses reveal record-shattering global warm temperatures in 2015

2015 was the warmest year, beating the previous warmest year 2014, beating the previous warmest year 2013, etc.

Quote:
??Climate change is the challenge of our generation, and NASA??s vital work on this important issue affects every person on Earth,? said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. ??Today??s announcement not only underscores how critical NASA??s Earth observation program is, it is a key data point that should make policy makers stand up and take notice - now is the time to act on climate.?
The next politician to lie about climate change should automatically lose our vote.

you should worry more about Canada doing its fair share and actually doing something about it and less about "our vote".

I thought we all agreed that climate change was a fact and that the issue is about what is causing it - Is it us or just a normal pattern?..

Of course climate change is a fact. Climate change is a process as sure as the seasons, the tide, sunrise and sunset. Propagandists using the term "climate change" with the inherent and intended negative connotations to push their agendas are simply preying on the myopic ignorance of the masses.

Well, speaking purely locally I'll say that at least it hasn't hit -40C here yet this winter. (yet) So far it's been a not bad one at all, but the warmest? I don't think so. Not here anyway. Globally maybe, but the Winnipeg winter has a will of it's own.

It's an El Nino year. Those usually lead to milder winters in parts of Canada.

Still I don't get the constant hand-wringing by people who somehow think that warming is worse than cooling when there is no negative effect of the warming we have supposedly had thus far. And what makes them think that we can control the temperature of the earth to the point that is stays just where we want it?

Same story every year! The way they get their numbers IS A TOTAL JOKE! If one day the data collected by satellites, which is 100x more accurate, are finally used in their calculation I may believe the end of the world is coming soon like they say but that won??t happen. They have an agenda, they need to continue with their off the scale stupid news to get paid. This is not science!

Some recent articles about that:

MIT Climate Scientist Dr. Richard Lindzen on ??hottest year?? claim: ??Why lend credibility to this dishonesty???
http://www.climatedepot.com/2016/01/...#ixzz3xzrihp9H

NOAA/NASA use only land-based temps to claim 2015 hottest year ever
http://www.climatechangedispatch.com...year-ever.html

Satellites show no global warming for 17 years 5 months

NONE of any previous prediction has ever happened!

Ah yes, the good' ole "flat earth" myth as a comparison for what exactly?

Myth of the flat Earth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
The myth of the flat Earth is the modern misconception that the prevailing cosmological view during the Middle Ages in Europe saw the Earth as flat, instead of spherical.[1][2]

During the early Middle Ages, virtually all scholars maintained the spherical viewpoint first expressed by the Ancient Greeks. From at least the 14th century, belief in a flat Earth among the educated was almost nonexistent, despite fanciful depictions in art, such as the exterior of Hieronymus Bosch's famous triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights, in which a disc-shaped Earth is shown floating inside a transparent sphere.[3]

According to Stephen Jay Gould, "there never was a period of 'flat Earth darkness' among scholars (regardless of how the public at large may have conceptualized our planet both then and now). Greek knowledge of sphericity never faded, and all major medieval scholars accepted the Earth's roundness as an established fact of cosmology."[4] Historians of science David Lindberg and Ronald Numbers point out that "there was scarcely a Christian scholar of the Middle Ages who did not acknowledge [Earth's] sphericity and even know its approximate circumference".[5]
Your post has no relevance to the topic at hand. None whatsoever.

How do the government handle things like the homeless and people who fall on hard times and cant afford energy bills or clothes rated -60c?..

I assume they don't just leave them to die.....

I can't speak for Winnipeg but in Toronto the government will issue an extreme cold weather warning. Open more shelters for the homeless. THey also have crews that drive around the city trying to pick them up and take them to one. A lot of times thy don't want to go. So they give them extra blankets and a warm meal/coffee etc

We are currently in an ice age and about to come out of it. You can argue it's natural or man made, but either way this is going to have a massive impact on mankind. In some cases entire countries will be under water.

Yes, we are currently in an ice age and we are going to stay in it. We are in an interglacial of the current ice age and the interglacial is due to end soon. Then the next glaciation will begin. You can argue it's natural or man made (it's not), but either way this is going to have a massive impact on mankind. In some cases entire countries will be covered in ice 2 km thick.

I think its us, but even if its partially due to nature, it will still cause lots of expensive damage if we can't control the amount of greenhouse gasses we keep pouring in.

Warming melts the ice, raising sea level and causing more flooding. Warmer oceans contain more energy causing more violent storms. Too much CO2 in the air is aborb by the ocean creative acidification which can hurt marine life and therefore the food chain. Acidification can also affect the weather creating drought in some places, floods in other places, etc.

If you consider fudging, adjusting and cherry picking the data to be lying then yes.

NASA's own satellites tell a completely different tale. Why don't you believe NASA satellites? Wait, why doesn't NASA even believe their own satellites? Oh ya, because of the lying part.

Do you believe that NASA and NOAA are above lying? That they're infallible and incorruptible? That they are beyond political interference? That they are not so caught up in the narrative they can't turn back?

Wow, thanks for the grade 1 progressive intro to science.

Yes, warming melts ice. But in freezing temperatures it will also sublimate. The only thing really keeping it there permanently is added freezing precipitation. We are nowhere near being warm enough to stop the freezing precipitation and cause drastic net ice loss at the caps. In fact the Antarctic ice cap is growing. Something is wrong with the narrative here.

If warmer oceans cause more violent storms then where are the more violent storms? Cyclone activity is down. Violent storms are down. Something is wrong with the narrative here.

A warming ocean cannot absorb more CO2. Warming causes the ocean to out-gas CO2. Something is wrong with the narrative here.

The ocean is not acidic. It is alkaline. A slight drop in the alkalinity still does not make it acidic. Something is wrong with the narrative here.

Acidification can affect the weather? That's a new one and a doozy at that. Source?

The Canadian federal government and provincial governments are hard at work solving the global warming problem. They are working on plans to kill our economy, tax us to death and they are regurgitating all the right platitudes to all the right people in all the right circles.

Take that global warming! Earth saved!

this is very humanistic & I like it

My next door neighbors son works every Christmas for free at the homeless shelters in London. Warmth is most essential, alas the food & clothes, the washing & hair cuts all make for a new New Year for most.

Last year, one of the helpers was actually one of the homeless from the year before.

The guy had a home, a wife & a business. His wife left him for another man & he lost everything. He became homeless. But obviously still a great guy. When Christmas 2014 came, he went to the shelter, had food, a roof & warmth, friends and people to speak with. He was clean & with new clothes, he went out & got a job, a new home & now helps the homeless every Christmas

Thinking that all those scientific saying the alarmists are wrong are actually paid by Exxon is so wrong. Also, did you know that GIEC, NOAA are keeping their calculations secrets? Why? Also did you ever read about the climate gate? Alarmists seems to have a lot more to hide that the skeptics.

Just this morning this one came up:
On that 2015 Record Warmest Claim
On that 2015 Record Warmest Claim « Roy Spencer, PhD
this is from Roy Spencer, a former NASA scientist. Read about him here:
About « Roy Spencer, PhD
no he is not paid by Exxon.

You ask me if I prefer to believe Nasa and Noaa? Just check the last link from my first post. None of their past predictions became a reality not a single one! Starting in the 70??s they were making predictions for 5-10 years. Quickly people were able to see it was not happening, then it was for 20-25 years. Now that we see it ain??t better they are making them for up to 100 years!

Note that I??m not saying we should not care about pollution, not at all. But just like a former founder of Greenpeace Patrick Moore says, this whole issue became totally hysterical and not scientific at all anymore. Politicians are now using this to tax us more and they are not using the money to change anything at all.
