DAVID Bowieâ??s ex-wife has revealed the music legend once tried to kill her by strangling her with his bare hands.

The Starman hit-maker, who was addicted to cocaine in the late 1970s, turned on then-wife Angie in a drug-fuelled rage after snorting the powder.

And she relived the terrifying moment when he grasped her around the throat and began squeezing the life out of her.

The assault, months before the pair agreed to divorce, came after Angie snapped at Davidâ??s assistant and lover Corinne Schwab.

She told The Sun on Sunday: â??It was awful. We were in a house that Corinne had found for us, in a dark hollow in Los Angeles.

â??David was high. I questioned Corinne rather sharply about the amount of baggage she had assembled for a trip to Jamaica, where David was going to record.

â??She snapped at me, so I snapped back at her: â??Donâ??t you dare talk to me like that.â?? Suddenly David hurtled across the room.

â??He grabbed my throat with both hands and started squeezing. He was blindly angry, yelling at me as he tightened his grip, and I started panicking.

â??It didnâ??t feel as if he was going to stop. Corinne pulled him off and saved me. So itâ??s possible that I owe her my life. The fact that she did save me must have p***ed her off afterwards.

â??Iâ??m sure she would have rather let him go on and do it but she must have known she would have to deal with the consequences.

â??It was an awful thing to happen. I hate the thought of it.â?
