The problem with the comparison is lack of hindsight given we know what Hitler did and it seems unimaginable. Where I think the comparison hits home is the foundation he is laying.

"Things are other peoples fault". "Those people look and believe differently" "To make your country great again they need to be dealt with".

Simple angry solutions to complex multi-faceted problems.

And people by the millions who have little need for facts or who are not dissuaded by blatant hypocrisy are listening.

As Germany and Europe starts to collapse, increasingly detaches herself from reality. Germany has failed her. She promised that Germany 'could do it', and successfully cope with a near complete population displacement (i.e. genocide) and turn inside out into an Islamic state within a decade with little difficulty or popular uprising against her.
She was wrong, and will soon retreat to her bunker. Or as one German politician said the other day, more likely flee to South America like most of the Nazi and communist cowards before her. That's perhaps where the analogy with Hitler will break down.

I think normally that is the case. However there will be someone like Hitler again at some point and someone will see the signs early. I highly doubt the people that know history and see those signs will be "weak brained", however I can guarantee those that follow the second coming will certainly be just that.

Hitler didn't make that policy -- the US State Department did.

I would not call out FDR for that policy it was a pragmatic decision based on USA prejudice, Congress' support and the US European Allies needs -- where the money would go --guns and tools of war or refugee relief.

Hitler did offer Germany's Jews to the world as refugees and had a bizarre plan to deport the German Jews to Madagascar. When the world said no to the refugees, it became Hitler's policy to confiscate all the wealth and property of the German Jews, commit them, and the Jews of Nazi conquered Europe, with the collaboration of certain anti-Semitic subjugated locals, to ghettos and then to slave labor concentration-extermination camps, using that confiscated wealth to wage war to expand the territory of Nazi Germany. It got to the point where the Jews gold teeth and hair was considered Nazi treasure too. The easiest way to get that was to mass-murder them.

The Islamic Terrorist State confiscates the wealth as well as proposing to (or actually) taking the body parts of the persons executed in Allah's name. That is more Hitler like mass-murder motivation and a justified comparison.

So, if Trump is Hitler-lite ISIS is Hitler real threat. Elect Trump there will be trade wars and perhaps a real war in the Middle East. The last war there, the "Little Bush War" cost a few trillion dollars and has gone on for 12 years now. Maybe, Saddam was right -- the USA would have the Vietnam War reloaded -- there are many parallels seen now.

With Trump's record in Bankruptcy Court, Trump's aversion to deficit spending is in serious doubt. His mantra of "Trump will make America great again" mirrors Hitler's promise to make Germany great again -- both claims were made in political rhetoric to gain the votes to assume power-- so who really knows?

It has not been "trendy" for Americans to compare political enemies to Hitler. I've never recalled it happening before (I might be wrong, feel free to correct me), and in this case the woman who made this comparison is not American, she is British.

I would disagree completely as it relates to mainstream educated people making this comparison. I have witnessed many people comparing Trump to Hitler that have never done that before, even in regards to G.W. Bush. I think your analysis of this a trend is incorrect.

Again, pretty on Target and this is too simple to spin. Like I said, hindsight makes it hard to believe but this is how it started before. To be fair it has started with others after that in various countries, however this one is getting too close for comfort.
