![]() "For months, Donald Trump has claimed that he opposed the Iraq War before the invasion began â?? as an example of his great judgment on foreign policy issues.
But in a 2002 interview with Howard Stern, Donald Trump said he supported an Iraq invasion. In the interview, which took place on Sept. 11, 2002, Stern asked Trump directly if he was for invading Iraq. â??Yeah I guess so,â? Trump responded. â??I wish the first time it was done correctly.â? Trump has repeatedly claimed that he was against the Iraq War before it began, despite no evidence of him publicly stating this position. On Meet the Press, Trump said there werenâ??t many articles about his opposition because he wasnâ??t a politician at the time." In 2002, Donald Trump Said He Supported Invading Iraq - BuzzFeed News |

Trump lies about everything.
I hope he wins the nomination. This will be amusing.

Trump spoke about this tonight on the CNN "Town Hall Meeting" when Anderson Cooper asked him about it.
Said "yeah" he probably said that on the Stern show. So what? You know...I was all fired up about it too in 2002. Thought it was great. About a year or so later I started realizing that my initial reaction was one that the media and the govt. had gotten me to go with (remember how the media was "embedded" with the troops and ALL of their reports were pro-war). I understand where Trump is coming from on it. Just like I understand why Hillary voted to invade Iraq. I don't blame Trump for realizing the truth. But I DO blame the rest of the Republican candidates for trying to defend that shit to this very day. The OP is so worried about Trump because he's scared Trump will easily beat Hillary...if she makes it to the general election. |

I don't like Trump but all this is such a non-issue. For or against at this point makes no difference. He has the right to have changed his mind between the first mention of the war in Iraq and now.
I just find it sad that the GOP spins it's tires so much on who said what, who was born where, calling each other names etc. etc. I am more concerned about Trump's opinions and approaches on things going forward. Same as I am with Cruz, Bernie and Hillary.

This surprises me as it seems like a safe thing to distance yourself from. Although I guess than the GOP would have to possibly take some blame for the current situation there. I do give Trump props for being candid in regards to that.

His answer to this during tonight's town hall satisfied me.
This was BEFORE the war started. There is proof AFTER the war started he spoke against it. Makes sense to me. |

Read 538. They talk about "lanes". There's an establishment lane (Rubio, Kascich, Bush), and an outsider lane (Trump, Carson). If you're establishment, you have to tow the party line. You have the baggage of George W. Bush. Especially Jeb.

Posting this and hoping for "high 5's" didn't quite work out for you on this thread.
Maybe you'll have better luck on the next one. ![]() Try attacking some of the real conservative religious nut cases running in the Republican primary. Cruz and Rubio are easy to rip on. Pretending to be a liberal and attacking Trump all the time just won't work with your limited skill set. |

Trump is not running to be elected as a message board commentator or an armchair dittohead. He's running for COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF of the armed forces.
A position and job where you are not afforded the opportunity to be wrong before you were right without doing catastrophic damage, as evidenced by the last person republicans wanted to give the job to. |

I think Baddog is right. The vast majority was for us going into Iraq. This was shortly after 9/11, we were still pissed, and we were told they had WMD.

the funny thing is that its being revealed that she lied and lied again with the email bs every week just with that one issue alone... never mind the fact that every human being has lied. But lucky for her, shes a democrat so that all gets filed under "who cares" and "whats the big deal" by the same idiots attacking others for trivialities.

He was for the war. When it was popular to say so. Now he's against the war. Now that it is popular to say so. If he polled better saying he was for the war, he would still be "for the war". And if he wanted to go with polls to win the Republican nomination he wouldn't have said what he said about the war and Bush. It was a very UN-Republican thing to say. You're blinded by your bias. And trying to look down your nose at other people THINKING you are somehow more "informed" (smarter) than other people...is a joke. |

I guess you have a point. Trump has no history in politics (or experience) so who knows what he believes or what he would do as a military leader; aside from change his mind after the fact. |

And no, I'm not attacking you for that thought. It's one that has been hammered into our consciousness by the Ruling Class party's our entire lives. I personally disagree with it 100%. There are only 5 people living who have experience as the President Of The United States. So no matter whom we elect...they will NOT have any experience as President. None of the candidates on either side are privy to the up to the second information that President Obama has at his disposal. Take Rubio for example...he babbles about being on a committee in Congress. That committee isn't shown the top secret stuff that Obama sees. So his "experience" isn't going to do him one damn bit of good. Once the election is over...whomever wins will be brought up to speed between Nov. 4, 2016 and Jan. 20th 2017 (when they take office). I'm not one bit worried about that at all. What I'm concerned with is...the economy. And the absolute corruption in Washignton D.C. Basically the fleecing of the American people by crooks in office. Trump represents a President who isn't controlled by the special interests. You can make snarky remarks all you want, but that is what is fueling his campaign. The PEOPLE are sick of getting fucked...to put it bluntly. Obama promised "Hope and Change" and didn't even TRY to deliver that. Instead, as the economy was tanking and people were desperate for jobs and losing everything they had...he spent a year on the disaster known as "ObamaCare". People gave THAT unexperienced politician a chance thinking that maybe he wouldn't be "business as usual". He was very disappointing. This is a political revolution. And yes...I do think that a President Trump could turn this economy around and do a MUCH better job than Obama has done. But that's just my opinion. I'm not trying to present it as unequivocally, 100% FACT from my all-knowing mind. But I do know this much: All of the other Republican candidates are bought and paid for by the same big companies that also own Hillary. Any Democrat not named Sanders and any Republican not named Trump will continue the same bullshit in Washington D.C. that has gone on for decades under every other administration. This political season might just be the one and only time we have to literally turn that around. |
