I have a question for non english speakers...

in English there is the speech pattern of stating 'but' midway in a sentence... I perceive this to be putting the part of the sentence before 'but' in contention with the remainder of the sentence after 'but'. example: I love you but I can't leave my wife.

are there similar patterns in your language and speech mannerisms?

Why would you think this is unique pattern? It is exactly like that in all 4 languages I know.

here is what my post refers to... I really love GFY, BUT, I have other stuff to do....

the first part of the statement/argument is 'I really love GFY'

next the statement/argument is disallowed, i.e. negated by using the word 'but'

next statement/argument is true: I have other stuff to do

do you see the point now? here is another interesting statement:

'all action is the result of motive and opportunity, all conversation is rationalization' lol!!

What language is this you're speaking? The one where a dummy tries to sound smart but faceplants miserably?

My English teachers always taught me never to start sentences with 'but'. But I never understood why

Best way to keep the muzzies out, apart from the fence

They only have 2 words. "Allah" and "wala-hala-hala-halaaaa"...
