education isn't "free" anywhere in the world... in those other countries, you pay for it through higher taxes.... so you graduate as for example an engineer, get a job making $80k/year... in the US, you would pay perhaps 25% tax and end up with $60k/year.... in those other countries, you pay $45% and end up with $44k so you have $16k/year less for your entire life... hardly a good deal...
