VR porn will both work and will not work.

This may sound rather odd thing to say, but I will explain.

First why it will not work.

VR porn will not work if its filmed, as in someone films a girl stripping on a VR camera.

Well the reason why this will fail is because the VR already is about being interactive.

While for a sort time it may gain interest, the fact that at most you will just have the option to move your head will limit the VR experience.

With computer games people will have the ability to move around, under, over an object as well as move it.

They will then see a VR porn film rather dull.

It is unlikely they will want to see the floor or want to look at a wall when all the action will be in front of them.

The file sizes will probably be huge too.

BUT...

VR porn will work if its software based.

You will then have the ability to interact with the model. Move her, have sex with her and so on.

It would give unlimited possibility's and options. As AI improves it may even mean you can chat to her and have a conversation.

It also allows people to go further and have sex with such as an alien babe (as you see in Star Wars). Or change the look of the model (big boobs, small boobs).

The file sizes would I suspect be small than those with films.

It may even be possible that you have VR sex with real people. While it isn't a truly interactive experience yet (think camgirls with VR webcams) there are some very good scenes. You can't have VR without 360 view.

I also wonder if with VR recorded films people will get RV motion sickness.
With VR software if say I lay down, the image should also go sidwards as it would in real life (if that makes sense).

But I suspect that may not happen with VR film (I may be wrong), but at the very least if I move my head a bit, what I see will not adjust. By this I mean I can look up and down, left and right, but the object will still be the same. An example is I look at a door frame. In the real world, a slight movement of the position of my head will and I will see the frame slightly different. In a computer VR game I will too. But a recorded VR film it remains the same. Thus I wonder if it may result in some sort of motion sickness.

It may not affect everyone. I used to have a strange unplesent feeling moving around when I played doom. But I do not think most people felt it.

Part of the VR EXPERIENCE is the immersion that you feel a bit more that you are there. That is not possible without 3D/stereoscopic images.
Making it feel a bit more real is a ongoing advance of all the media and it is no different with porn.

But I will point out that there are tube sites where one watches others game play and they are quite popular with the under 30 crowd. Some games have the ability to record the gameplay just for it. Some stream it live.

While it might pale in comparison to the interaction of a video game, to me it still can be a superior experience compared to a regular video. The technology is still young so the video quality of VR movies isn't as good as traditional HD videos, but that will improve with time. Also, it will be hard to make a porn movie that is as interactive as a video game with the exception of a cam girl with VR webcam. Which could be a big upsell for the industry. Like the VR video, now hook up with a camgirl for a fully interactive experience. It is hard to compare the two because they are two very different forms of entertainment. It is like saying, "Watching a movie is not as fun as driving a race car." Well, sure, driving a race care is probably a blast, but it is a different thing than watching a movie.

However, what can make VR a superior experience to a regular porn movie is the immersion of it. With a regular movie it is still just a movie you are watching on a screen. Look at the ones they do for the Sports games. They use the most modern low cost techniques that are applicable for cinematic VR.

I've seen a number of videos showing how they do this and it is interesting and could have a place in VR. The problem is, as of now, for it to look very realistic is a time consuming and expensive thing. I was just playing Madden football on the Xbox last night and those players do look like the real players, but they also look fake and you can tell they aren't real. I don't think the masses will flock to truly interactive porn with a CGI character unless that character really looks and moves like a real person. We are likely still a ways away from that.
